Well this morning dressed myself up ready to go to the hospital this afternoon when Johan said 'check the calendar I think you have an appointment tomorrow and not today'. How right he was, silly little me. I phoned the hospital and called off my appointment as my temporarily help will be here for the first time tomorrow. I said I will make a new appointment via internet and they said ok. I had to tell a little white lie and say I was sick. Johan and I then went to the shops and bought Johan some new shoes. Lots of shoes for sale, but of course not ones Johan likes, so had to pay full price. Anyway they are nice ones. Johan went in the car and I went on my scootmobile. I gave the shopping to Johan to bring home. It is here mussel time so bought 2 kilos of mussels for our dinner tomorrow. Delicious cooked in white wine and herbs and eaten with French bread and garlic butter. Cannot type for long with my hand, so will say see you tomorrow. Sylvia xxx |

wed evening brenda I hope that when you wake up to-morrow you are feeling better, it has not been a good day over here for my little family my son called last evning to say that the one cat scrappy age 15 had been to the vets with an enlarged abdomen and was having trouble breathing they did x-rays and he was so full of fluid they could not see the organs a form of animal peritinitos if they did surgery he may have 2-3 months and some pain, so they brought him home to spend the evening with the family and the dog and the grande dame of cats calico who is 16, rocky the dog immediatly carried him around hanging out of his mouth, scrappy has always like this form of wierd transport. so this morning the family went bck to the vets and scrappy was put to sleep needless to say I have three weepy grandchildren and a upset son and daughter in law but as andrew said he was in pain and they did not want him to suffer he was a great little cat I shall miss him so I am now off tobed myself and hope he is ok in cat heaven bye for now dorothy |

Hi all, The mussels were delicious and I have a few over which I will dip into tempura batter and fry for lunch. I baked a lovely chocolate fatless sponge cake for my youngest daughter yesterday and have sliced it through the middle and frozen it in. On Saturday will take it out and fill it with sour cherries (Kirsch), chocolate butter, and fresh whipped cream. This was for her birthday last week. I will buy flowers on Saturday and give her a gift voucher. We are going for coffee on Sunday with her. I am now waiting for my granddaughter to come for dinner. I have made a lot of dishes and must admit am a bit knackered. Anyway it is worth it when I see her. Hope you are feeling better Brenda. My eldest daughter has been really poorly with vomiting and diarrhea (spelling). She thought it was a one day sickness but she has been bad all week. She is determined to go out tomorrow to a colleague's funeral - 17 years and had an accident on a scooter. Her mother also works for Center Parcs. Very sad. Now will sign off for now. Sylvia xxx |

Good morning everyone, everything back to normal at last,[as normal as my household can ever be lol]. Sorry to hear about the cat Dorothy, but it does sound as thoughit had a loving house to live in ,so don't be sad, your pet wouldn't want that, having had a wonderful life with you all. Well,Rachael flew off yesterday at nine oclock,so she should be back in oz very shortly, and then faces a shortish trip accross state to mossvale and home. We now have to wait until september when my son and grandson go over there for 14 days, first to mossvale ,and then to townsville ,taking in the sights of the barrier reef on the way. After courting for nearly three years ,and finding out that nothing had changed between them and their feelings for one and other ,Martin ,and Rachael are now engaged, and i couldn't be more pleased. I also have a new oz rellie pending and have asked for her family details so that i can get them loaded onto the family tree. I hope you will soon be much better Brenda, but take it easy for a few days mmmmmmm? i'm sure a lot of it is because you are low from being too busy. Nothing much for me to do today exept try the bread out again[with fresh packets ]lol,i better not make a mess again or i will have Sylvia after my hide. Missy is still doing well ,scaring me half to death ,hiding round the corner a few steps up on the stairs ,waiting to launch herself like a flying squirrel at the legs as you walk passed lol,not to worry though ,there is no malice in the action ,as the claws are retracted when she does it. I must admit ,i wonder already what i did before she came,i can't imagine being without her,but she has proved a blessing as the son lost Mia two days ago,she slipped the leash and bounded out into the road where he was hit by a car. Mia died on the spot ,so she will have suffered no pain, and the car driver was in tears ,but if wsn't her fault, she was only doing the right speed and didn't stand any chance of avoiding hitting the dog..but i too have lost a pal ,and will miss her like hell. My garden now looks great ,no weeds ,and the available ground is full up,with only room for the cuttings if they take,so i am well pleased. while rachael was here ,we took her to Alnwick[harry potter ] castle to see her boys hero's school ,so she took quite a few photos of the castle sites home with her.. My photo pages are now so full ,i have dropped them all onto disc and will then delete them and start again ,which will help my poor old puter run a lot faster ,[or is it just the gr site playing up again] Must away now ,and get on with the housework, and spend a lot of time with Missy, hee hee, While rachael was here we spent so much time out and about she must have been thinking she was an orphen ,and is still following me everywhere.sitting on my foot everytime i stop to make sure i can't go anywhere without her [bless] Catch you all later.Fred. |

Hi all, Well I was up with the lark, so to speak, this morning. I went to the market nice and early, and everybody was late so I enjoyed it. Even the post office which is always choc full on Fridays was empty. I was back home by 10.30 am. I could then start in the kitchen sorting out and cooking some things I had bought on the market. I pressed just over a kilo of fresh oranges. I also lightly stewed some fresh apricots and then made them into mousse. We have lovely fresh plums, but am not going to do anything to them, just eat them as they are. I bought some fresh raw herrings again which we ate at lunchtime - well only 1 each, the other is for tomorrow. Friday being fish day calls for fish for dinner, so have got some salmon out of the freezer. Will have this with new potatoes and spinach. My granddaughter enjoyed the meal yesterday and bought me a huge bunch of flowers, they were white roses and a mixture of dark blue flowers to go with them. Ah!!!!!!!!! I phoned the hospital to try and get an earlier appointment for my hand and now have one for 7th August. I had so much pain again this morning trying to steer my scootmobile that I decided to take action. Now that is enough typing for today. Have a nice weekend everybody. How are you Brenda? Hi al,from a wet and windy manchester, just got back from shopping and had a cup of tea,so i am feeling ok,Had no stomach pain since last night so hopefully its cleared.thanks for all you kind thoughts. Having some lean braised steak and onions for tea with jacket spuds and shredded cabbage, smells great even from up here.. As we didn't go out for Johns birthday last night , he bought a lovelly ribeye steak to grill tomorrow night and we will have mushrooms, tomatatoes and a few chips with it.It was a quarter of the price at the steak house ,I know its cooked and the atmosphere is always good but its getting expensive if we have wine and need to get a taxi as well. Have been looking for a new raincoat but haven't found one yet,but somehow i think i will still need it whenever I find one!!! Sorry about your sons dog Fred, know how you feel ,when my sisters Jack Russell was knock down a few years ago,we were all in tears every time we walked past the spot where it happened. My firend is still looking for homes for her cats four kittens, they are now 7 weeks old,,and shhe has not had any response to cards n the vets etc. Sylvia hope you get your hand sorted soon, sounds very uncomfortable. Morning dorothy, and everyone else who may look in,lol. The son's kids will cheer up later today, when i spring my suprise on them jhee hee. I found an old Lady who lost her hubby a fortnight ago,and is moving into a home because she cannot look after herself. She has a nine month old labrador called Kia [coincidence,or khama?. the dog loves her grandkids but there is a little matter of a kitten, who nobody wants ,that Kia is very attached too,and she dosn't want the two to be split up ,because they will probably pine for each other. No problem that i can see,Hissy will have a kitten mate to play with ,and a dog that would rather tumble round the floor with a cat ,that hurt it. It appears that the dog even shares it's cage ,in the front room with the kitten, and the dog let's itself into the cage with it's nose whenever the children gett too boisteruos, the kitten just squeezes through the bars. To cut a long story short ,the old girl is over the moon that the pets will not be split up ,and that there is a new home waitinjg for them with children who will love walking the dog in a park. I am going down to pick them up either today,or tomorrow morning, dedpending on when i have to go to hospital to pick Nora [the sister in law] up after her treatment for lukemia and a swelling on her leg which wouldn't clear up.[it turneed out to be a horse fly bite] Missy is doing well, she has taken to mewing outside the bedroom door at around eight in the morning to be let in. After she has said good morning to us both ,she starts to worry at my toes and ankles until i get up to feed her, cor, what with this ,and the fish who crowd to the side of the tank as soon as i walk into the dining room to be fed too[who says fish have no memory [rubbish] Liz and i are bottom of the food chain lol. It's a lovely day here today ,warm and sunny but veeeery windy ,so i'm wondering if we have a storm coming [ i havn't seen the forcast]. Poor old New Zealand has copped it ,very high winds have covered the roads inches deep in sand ,blown off the beaches, and will take some sorting out[hope our Bill is okay] Time to go now peeps the phone call has just come.see ya later.Fred. |

Hi all, Well felt a bit less giddy this morning but still a feeling of nausea. Am taking it easy with eating. Had to cook the pieces of salmon I took out the freezer yesterday so decided to bake them in puff pastry and have a tomatoe and lettuce salad with it. I could only eat a very small piece, but now the fish is cooked it will keep for lunch tomorrow or the day after. I took my daughter's chocolate sponge cake out of the freezer and filled it with chocolate butter cream, sour cherries and whipped cream and then decorated the top. We are going to her for coffee tomorrow. I have also bought her some beautiful flowers, pink roses, gerberas, and other dark mauve flowers. We took my ex son in law's 50th birthday card round to him. I decorated the figures '50' with 50 Euro cent coins and pasted some figures on the card.Over 2 weeks we are going to eat with him and his new wife. He is having a party tonight for 30 people and that would have been too much for us. I am pleased that the weather is fine for him as he plans to have the party outside in the garden. Lovely to hear about your pets Fred. Sylvia xxx |

hi brenda hope your steak dinner goes well to-night the cake sylvia made sounds really good, in regards to the books I can go on line to my local library and have hols placed on books also I do go on line to see the latest english mysteries and request them as soon as they come out I have about 25 onhold in different numbers of availability there is a lady called mary at the library who does all the buying she does not like to see me coming here favourite comment is mrs lavallee the book is not out in canada as yet you will have to wait and she knows I am not a patient sort. I have almost 400 hard backs of the british royal family going way back and she know that sometimes she asks me if I will leave them to the library when I die!!!!!! what nerve I take great delight in telling her they are left to my daughter in law, they would fetch a good a mount at auction. anyway it is raining now so I have moved all the plant (3) and the tomatoes near the edge of thebalcony to get some rain and have just plucked my 2nd tomato to have with supper bye for now dorothy |

Just popped on before bed,ut i am so tired ,as i did not sleep well last night at all;; the steak meal was great worth every penny!! In our library Dorothy you can borrow up to 8 or 12 books at a time for a period of three weeks.you can renew them as long as no one else is waiting for them, you can reserve up to 8 books .be usually have to wait for a couple of months after a newbook is published before we have it in the library, one exception being the new harry Potter which is having a special launch next friday night at midnight one of our libraries is opening specially for it !! Sylvia hope you are feeling better and that cake sounds brilliant.Enjoy your visit to your daughter. Brenda. |

Hi all, Well went to my daughter today for coffee, complete with cake, flowers etc.etc. We were able to sit outside for a while, but then a few drops of rain so we had to go indoors. Just as we were going away Rene's parents drove up. They were going uninvited I know because Susan never said they were coming. Susan will be livid I know as they get on her nerves. She would have to share her chocolate cake with them too as it was on show! I am sitting giggling here wondering how she got on. Rene's parents are ok but Rene's mother tries to organise Susan and then she is on the wrong footing. Rene's father is a simple man but harmless and a hard worker. I feel sorry for them that they are on the wrong footing with their son and my daughter. I wonder what Fred is up to? Sylvia xxx |

Fred is up to no good sylvia lol.Three in the morning and i am just going to bed, after coming downstairs because the boss is snoring like a John Deere Tractor. I had the idea of crashing on the sofa ,but was assaulted by Missy as i laid down grrrrrr. Two in the morning is no time to get a set of claws and teeth in the ankles no matter how lovingly they were administered,so ,i am off to try sleeping in the field again hee hee. .Have some photos of Hissy and Kia fighting under the table ,but ,really ,they are the best of pals[until mealtimes] ,as will be revealed . Oh ,by the way Sylvia ,that's one wicked sense of humour you have there lol.Fred. |
