Surely you remember that it pops up a couple of days beforehand.

As far as I am concerned today (1 st Nov.) is the first day to wear a poppy.

When we went shopping today I took 2 safety pins so we have them pinned to our jackets.

This site doesn't care one hoot does it, not like it's going to cost them anything to put the poppy on here.

When I first joined I remember they put the poppy up maybe for a couple of years, PC gone to far I was born after the war but I still wear a poppy every year and stand for the two minutes silence just out of respect

If I remember correctly, the poppy usually appears just a couple of days before November 11.

As that is Monday next week, we might, just might, see it appear on Friday or maybe not until Monday.

Sylvia, i expect you are correct. It will appear no doubt before Sunday but it is very disrespectful not to put it up soooner.

Linda, i was born in 1961 but if I was shopping etc when the time approached, here the whole shop stands still for 2 minutes with the exception of one very rude man who carried on walking around the supermarket when everyone else was standing in silence!! That was a few years ago now and not witnessed it since.

This year I shall have the radio on and join in with the rest of the nation and observe the 2 minutes silence.
We always watch the festival of reembrace on the Sat eve and the full service at the Cenotaph on the Sunday morning.

Florence ................. I always forget that you guys have Sunday as THE day.

Over here the date is important, so Monday will be when all the Remembrance Services at Cenotaphs all across the country will be held. I think most stores and shops don't even open until midday. Plus it is nice to know that here more and more young people are being brought to the Cenotaphs by their parents, or coming on their own.

Not sure about all of Canada Sylvia but here in Ontario stores etc will be open normal hours but at the discretion of management they will ask people to observe at least a minute of silence at 11am. Schools usually have an assembly as close to the time as possible and observe a minute of silence.
I was asked by some children the other day why I was wearing my poppy so early, so I explained you don't just have to wear it on the 11th. It's never too late to educate.
Still no poppy on here I see.

Seems as though the last one out on Friday forget to press the poppy button :-\

It isn't even on FMP!

Caroline ............. maybe you're right, money counts! But I believe everywhere does have the Cenotaph Service on the 11th.

Aha!

From Google ........
Remembrance Day is essentially a statutory holiday in every province and territory with the exception of Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, and Nova Scotia.
-----------

Banks, Canada Post and government offices are closed across Canada

Schools are closed in BC, but shops and stores will be open as usual.

So the company has no interest in the past. Ummmm!

I bet the baubles will be up soon, proving they can do it if they want to.
