We all used Izal for tracing paper - it was what we used at home. Mum was never amused when we needed a larger piece of tracing psper.

I buy from one of the mail order companies that uses recycled bamboo. They're good and quite 'robust', although I think they feel slightly 'lesser' than the first order I had (pre Covid). It's just convenient - a box of 40-odd lasts AGES and I don't have to think about it, plus no plastic wrapping.

Hard paper, shiny on one side and rough on the other. Each sheet had "Medicated with Izal germicide" printed on it in green.

I don’t think there was much else at one time and the new ‘soft’ paper just disintegrated.

Edit: it suddenly struck me that we didn’t use Izal, we used Bronco. I used to sing Bronco, Bronco, tearing across the dotted line. Bronco, Bronco Line.

Yes, I was a fan of westerns and Bronco Lane.

I think we had both Izal and Bronco, til the softer stuff came into existence.

We used to sing along to Bronco, also Ivanho and William Tell.

Edit: Now UKschools are so severely underfunded, perhaps we should suggest they use 'Izal' for tracing paper.

My grandparents used Izal in the late 60's but when I came to stay for the weekend, grandma gave me a soft toilet roll which I kept in my bedroom as grandad wouldn't approve! Grandma hated the Izal as it was so hard and felt sorry for me.

Gwyn, we played comb and paper - usually on Sunday afternoons, often marching around the settee wearing Dad’s medals and old Navy cap. Sunday afternoons were the highlight of the week. We always spent them together at home with our parents and Dad would buy pop, ice cream, sweets and such. A once-a-week treat!

We managed to lose the ribbons from the medals and when Dad retired and was sorting through his memorabilia he sent off for new ribbons. <3

I think that what Dads did Joy.

Mine use to go around fhe corner for 'a quick pint' then bring back ice-cream, cream soda and sweets.

After dinner, he would disappear for 'half an hour' while we watched the Sunday film, usually Fred and Ginger as I remember.

Our own kids used to put on 'a show' for us on Sunday afternoon, usually a bit of singing and dancing. :-D :-D <3 <3

Not only are there fewer sheets but they are narrower than in the past.

They ises to fit the roll holders with about an eighth of and inch free play, now it's nearly an inch.
