Sharron

Sharron Report 27 Aug 2021 12:29

Knowing, as he does, that getting me to swallow so much as a Rennie involves some form of unarmed combat, my doctor, deciding that I would benefit from imbibing some concoction or other he liked the look of, prepared his worst case scenario speech warning of the consequences of refusal.

One he listed was the possibility of suffering a stroke.Well, that would be my comeuppance wouldn't it?! But it did start me thinking that I should, maybe, get into training in case I do have one because I really don't have that kind of stamina at the moment.

I will certainly enjoy my first two days before I have to make my own breakfast and wash up after in the kitchen where they can't hear you say "One hand" whilst waving the offending object in the air and then be pushed round, hoovering in my chair.

Two dinners a week in the village one way, sausage sandwiches and any business I may need to transact at the surgery in the village the other way, not to mention the spending of my pocket money on the less essential things like toiletries while somebody else is responsible for the food and the whiskey.

Washing, washing up, dung collecting, egg buying, veg buying, Argos shopping which is more complicated than you might think, it involves eating in Wetherspoons. Anything else where there might be food too, fetes, funerals village lunch with the table cloths to wash and return and marmalade to be made at home

Think I had had better join the gym before I take that lot on! It will serve me right though, won't it?

Do you, like me, have the 'accroutrements' necessary for a potential stroke?
The wet room, and white handles in various odd places?
I'm contemplating growing nasturtium up the two handles either side of the front door.
:-)

Sharron Report 27 Aug 2021 13:36

Yes, I have the wet room and the wide back door with level access. There is still a long grabber as well, that is well used as it would be living with 6'8"!

We know everything will fit, hoist, bed wheelchair. still have electric can opener and jar opener.

Shame to waste them really!

maggiewinchester Report 27 Aug 2021 13:52

If OH takes Sharron Blackberry picking, surely she should be providing the horse manure?

ZZzzz - do you remember Fred, Sharrons dad?
If you don't, yes, this will be gibberish! :-D :-D :-D

ZZzzz Report 27 Aug 2021 14:02

Sharron's Dad Fred had a stroke and was in a wheel chair and sharron, being the bully she admits to be looked after him. She was a star but doesn't like people to know that.

Sharron, you take your pills....... please!!!

Now Sharron I am going to gently tell you orf !

You know the effects of a stroke first hand so you really don’t want to go there

How would your other half manage without you being able to organise him !

Maybe he needs to crush the tablets and hide em in your food

Your cat can explain how it’s done Lol

You and I have both been carers , you longer than me , so we know the stress it puts on the carer

Sooo please get those pills down you regularly one way or the other

:-D ;-)

nameslessone Report 28 Aug 2021 11:49

I’m not sure taking the pills the other way will help. ;-)

Sharron Report 28 Aug 2021 11:53

Shirley, my dear. You evidently don't understand the concept of defiance and the level to which I have perfected it!

My cat doesn't even know about ground up pills. My method is to sit beside the cat with it tucked under my left arm, hold it's head up with my left hand and ram the pill down with my right hand and I would like to see him try that, I can tell you!

I have already been persuaded because I don't think I have the stamina to be a stroke victim! Don't like sausages either!

Well you made me giggle :-D

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 28 Aug 2021 13:36

Does this now mean that your OH doesn’t have to perfect the art of tucking you under his arm, holding your head up with his left hand and ramming the pill down with his right.

Is he relieved or sorry that he won’t get the chance. :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 28 Aug 2021 14:44

It does indeed.

Otherwise, I suppose, there is the continental method!

One hesitates to ? the continental method
