:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I shan't mention that I used to work in Portsmouth Dockyard, then.

Perhaps Naval Dockyards are slightly different to civilian Dockyards.
To be honest, I used to envy their dresses! :-D :-D

Pompey has a dockyard, Southampton has docks.and is too far for me to go on my bike!

That's true.
My grandad worked in Southampton Docks.

I've been to both :-D

At that price you could get twelve pairs for the cost of a roll of PM's wallpaper.

Sometimes age difference creeps in!

About 30 years ago when our son had grown out of his jeans (£90-worth and highly-prized among that age group at the time - but they were a birthday gift) , he passed them on to his Dad because they were still in good condition.

Daughter and I came in from shopping one day and OH was working in the garden. Dtr remarked about Dad working in those jeans! Yup, they were the very expensive pair that he'd got from Son.

To our age group a pair of jeans is simply that - a pair of jeans that once were considered to be workwear!

The upside is that they are still going strong and OH still wears them.

I had two pairs of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans back in the day and for soe reason, I stopped wearing them.

Can't remember why I didn't wear them anymore but Fred did!

Gloria Vanderbilt, Sharron! I never even knew you could get that brand in jeans.

Son's were Armani - all the range with his age group then.

I'm afraid I have no idea what is popular among them now, I'm so out of touch. :-S

No point having really expensive jeans unless the brand name is written all over the outside ;-)

I have just had a quick look at Harvey Nichols website. There are several hundred different women's jeans - I only looked at the first page. Most were £200-ish, but the most expensive - wait for it.................

£750.00 :-0 :-0 :-0 from Botega Veneto.

I dread to think what's on page 2.

Gloria Vanderbilts were a quite short-lived brand about forty years ago.

Usually it was Levis with the hems frayed.

I still can't resist a chuckle when I see "fashion" jeans with pre-cut holes in the knees.

I'm almost tempted to donate the wearer a few quid so they can buy intact ones.

My pair like that are currently in the recycling bag on the drive waiting for the dustmen to pick them up for rags in the morning.
