Same here re mum Pat but still not on FMP.
The death register isn't on FMP from 2007 so could well be guess work. Goodness knows were they got my dads incorrect birth year from. Not good.

They may do what Ancestry is supposed to do then, I saw comments about the fact they find the deaths in family announcements etc.. Much like what happened post 1997 on the 1937 Register, they apparently tried to tie announcement to people. Whether it's true or not they all got the info from somewhere and it seems intermittent.

My mother's death wasn't on either Ancestry or FMP until reasonable recently, but I've seen deaths past the year she died before mum's was published

I only put this up because I found the notion of my dad being ten years younger amusing.

Then tell them as it will confuse others - Can you see the original registration as sometimes the letters/figures aren't that clear?

As Von pointed out, no d.o.b's on death reg since 1954 - my dad hadn't been born then, according to FMP - so no one can check that way.

Later ones have year of birth.

This would only be as good as the information given by the person registering the death. If someone lied about their age who was to know what the correct age might be. ;-) ;-)

I don't see 'report an error' for recent records.

If it has been transcribed wrong you tell them, if it has been registered at GRO wrong it's a GRO problem.

Oddly Belle, they don't have my mothers death reg, same place but 3 years earlier so I wonder where they fished their wrong information from?
I know my dads dates and have the certs - even went to the funeral ;-) I was looking up his grandad of the same name and birth place to double check his birth date - he was quite a bit older than me LOL
