Resignations left, right and centre, names. :-D

Either that or the government would have to find some way of silencing them and it's a tad too late to revoke licences, I think.

Ooh, my mind is going into overdrive at the thoughts of them 'chatting' (grilling?) the likes of Boris, Matt Hancock and even Dido H. That, I would not miss. :-0 :-D

The thought of being grilled by both Andrew Neil And Piers Morgan must be giving some people, especially politicians, nightmares.

Here's another snippet - GB news role for Piers Morgan?

If I had to put money on it I'd hedge my bets. My first choice (each way) Murdoch's new UK News - my second (again each way) the new GB news programme with Andrew Neil.

Not for nothing would Piers walk off a popular programme without other irons in the fire.

JoyLouise Report 11 Mar 2021 09:36

I think you're right, names.

I used to enjoy his journalistic musings but I drew the line when he became noisy on television. I prefer my morning news presenters to be more like Charlie Stayt, Louise Minchin and Dan Walker - heard but not noisy.

I saw someone referring to PM as 'Marmite' - that is probably right. Love it or hate it.

I read that, Ann. It would apply to those who look no further than their noses, I think.

I am sure that the majority on here are old enough to be more discerning - or, rather, I like to think that the majority here are old enough to have learned to look further than their noses.

Can't speak for Americans though, especially after seeing some of the (tongue in cheek) spoutings from 'the great and the good'. I am kicking myself for not 'running a book' though, because I think that most of us would have expected to hear from the likes of Hil Clinton et al because Oprah's name would have ensured that they got media coverage of one sort or another.

I so agree with SIC’s list at 3.01.

If I write a report or similar which has easily spotted errors I must accept that the whole report is going to be gone through with a fine tooth comb in case of any other mistakes.

It's years since I watched Channel 9, Rollo. If I recall correctly, its origins lie in the Fairfax Newspaper empire so you could well be on to a winner there as I have always naturally associated Piers Morgan with journalism and, as we all know, some people make the switch from newspapers to TV more easily than others.

Withiut a doubt, though, I think there was more to the Piers walk-off story than meets the eye.

Why Piers Morgan was sacked by CNN.

imho PM and Oz Channel9 are well suited while the time gap would be a bonus.

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 11 Mar 2021 07:56

Quite so, Dermot. :-D

I do not find it hard to envisage a Murdoch-Morgan pairing which I alluded to in my previous post. In fact it may ruffle feathers even more. :-0

If the format follows that of two people leading, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Piers will join Gordon Smart.

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 11 Mar 2021 07:41

Not sure how to read that, Dermot?

There is one thing I omitted to mention - something that roused my interest.

Rupert Murdoch has got permission to launch a TV News Programme.

It makes one wonder whether there is more to the Piers Morgan walk-off stunt than we know?

Edit: Piers Morgan worked for Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper, for those who don't remember that.

Dermot

Dermot Report 11 Mar 2021 07:37

I am reminded of the witty words of the satirist Samuel Butler, who died over 110 years ago: "I believe that he was really sorry, that people would not believe he was sorry, or that he was not more sorry."

I have not watched Piers on the morning programme at all but I have caught excerpts or read in the press when he has been particularly controversial.

I prefer the quieter BBC morning news programme.

What I do remember is reading Piers's newspaper musings and column several years ago. Sometimes he shot from the hip and other times it seemed as though he wanted readers to believe he knew everyone.

It would not surprise me at all if we saw him back on telly because he may well have contractual obligations.

I am still amused to think that he knocked H & M from top spot. It was so easy that it makes me wonder whether he contrived to bring this about. If so, well done!

Island ..............

No, I don't know him. As I said in the previous post ...... I don't watch British TV. Why should I??

In fact at the moment I am not watching ANY TV.

I only know what I've read about him, and about what Markle has said about him ........ and what you guys have also said.

But anyone has the right to express their opinion, free speech is still part of the UK, US AND Canadian life.

I also do not believe more than a few words of Markle claimed .

I have explained in many places why I do not believe claims made ......

.......... claims of being married 3 days before the ceremonial event, and then also taking the vows again ......... we all know that just doesn't happen .

........ claims that Archie was denied the title of prince because of his colour ......... we all know that there was another, very valid reason for that. Plus the fact that H&M very clearly said they did not want him to have a title within days of his birth.

........ claims that the Royal Family denied them 24/7 security, when there is a separate body that determines that, plus the fact that British police cannot work permanently in another country as security.

........ claims that no-one helped her when she was having problems mentally, when we all know that questions are asked by the obstetrician, doulah and midwife during regular check-ups.

When a few claims are clearly wrong or misinterpreted, then all claims are under suspicion.

Does this mean that I am not supposed to express my opinion on here, or in the open?

Does this mean that you can't?

Do you really mean that no-one is allowed to express their opinion?

As far as I can see, Piers Morgan has been very open about why he dislikes Markle .......... and no-one has stopped him from continuing on that TV show. Until now, and following contact from Markle to the Head of the station..

........... and that contact was not because she was upset for herself, so she has claimed.

That is VERY suspicious!.

Love him or hate him, free speech is really threatened right now if this is allowed to continue.

Sylvia......

Clearly, you know very little about Morgan!!!!!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Mar 2021 22:36

I read years ago that Meghan had contacted Piers Morgan on a visit to London before starting the relationship with Harry, and kept in contact with him regularly after that happened, until she met Harry or soon after, and then she "ghosted" him without any other message or explanation. Refused to answer his messages.

I think I might get upset if that had happened to me ..........

but the report that she complained officially to the TV station about his comments, and that he has now left ....... or been forced to leave?? ....... worry me.

It is a dangerous precedent to set if her complaint has led to someone losing his job..

We all have the right to express our opinion, and, while I have never seen him (don't watch British TV), what I have read about yesterday what he said was no different from anything he's said over the years since H&M got engaged.

The row yesterday from what I read seemed to be more a disagreement on air with someone who had a differing opinion.

Why let PM say the same thins for over 3 years, and then crack down right now???? People must have complained in the past?

Perhaps he should have gone earlier then. Did anyone hear the interview with the 3 American presenters where he said he knew that the Queen and William and Charles were livid with Harry and he could feel the tension that was coming from them as he lives near by. Some superpower he has there, no one knows outside of the family and people present what the Queen says or even thinks any more than he knows what I think.
A good journalist ,and yes he draws in the crowds but so did Madame Guillotine I believe. :-)
