It makes you wonder what goes on in their heads when they do that sort of thing, do they have anything in their heads?

I'll use a childish expression, if I may. 'Serves her right!'

Sturgeon obviously has not got the power to sack her but If she is found guilty she will have to go.

Yesterday Margaret Ferrier, the MSP who travelled by train to Westminster and back after testing positive, was arrested. She will be charged with culpable and reckless behaviour and may end up with a jail sentence.

The English police should do the same with Dominic Cummings, but they won't! :-|

I for one would hate to be in the position of having to make all these decisions..... your damned if you do and damned if you don't! :-(

I can't help feeling that when Gove is rolled out it means that Johnson and Hancock don't want to be caught out telling bare-faced lies that they will never be able to find a plausible excuse for if they're strongly challenged. (Hancock, I think, has his eye on the top job when Boris is done with it.).

What does that say about Gove?

I have no qualms about the twelve-week wait although I think eight weeks would be better as far as a higher percentage of continued efficacy of the first jab is concerned.

Two of my vulnerable pals still have to go for their second dose in a few days time so nothing cancelled for them.

Edit:

is govt going to claw back the billions given to mates' connections for test, track etc? If not, who is going to press corruption charges? There has been no transparency as far as making public the various quotes obtained - so were any demanded as they ought to have been? It's not exactly rocket science to make public all paperwork pertaining to the quotes, is it?

I can see the scuff marks on the ground as feet are dragged!

I have no regard for Cummings either and I'd not be surprised if more is yet to come out.

If the person who said he/she saw Cummings in *Houghall Woods was a local, then almost certainly C was in Houghall Woods and not on his father's land. Houghall Woods is across the busy dual carriagewayed A167 from the farm - no way would a local not know that - especially a local rambler.

I don't like Cummins and didn't like what he did, or the fact that Boris let him get away with it. But i really don't blame them for the actions of selfish inconsiderate people. OK he was used as an excuse but if he had thrown himself off a cliff I doubt thousands of people would have followed him. They wanted there not to be rules that stopped them enjoying themselves, it is/was all part of this present day 'me, me me' society.
And he is not around now but still they organise and attend raves, meet up in large groups etc. I doubt this latest move will stop them. And it is the same in France and Europe, surely Cummins didn't influence the selfish people there? It is the sort of world we live in.

Michael Gove is such a cheerful little soul isn't he, He really doesn't want to offer us a glimpse of the time when we won't all be locked down. In the paper today he is denying that it will be March, that is too early.

I agree with Island re Dominic Cummings. I was so angry, both with him and with Boris for 'supporting' him. Yes, I and millions of others, still carried on obeying the guidelines, but many undoubtedly didn't after that fiasco. He may be 'history' but he wormed his way into our subconscious and was a turning point for many in their view of the handling of the situation by the government.

Island Report 4 Jan 2021 22:29

Cummings may well be history Barbra (and a prat) but he did a lot of damage and was supported by Johnson - that's where the rot set in. Johnson should lead by example - something he is obviously incapable of.

If the virus could be seen floating in the air outside and been told it is highly dangerous or fatal would you still go out, partying etc.

maggiewinchester Report 4 Jan 2021 21:30

Strange how the number of cases rose August - what happened then? Oh yes, 'Eat Out to Help Out'.
Then we had a rise in numbers of infections in October - what happened then?
Oh yes - the schools went back in September.

It's not rocket science to realise that 30+ children in a classroom are going to pick up the virus - I mean we all know how quickly illnesses can pass through a classroom - or even nits!
Children go home,(usually in groups) pass it on. Parents go to work, and pass it on there etc etc.

As for not listening to Johnson - well, they did in August, they did in September - and looked at what happened!

The scientists said school shouldn't open, Starmer said schools shouldn't open. Boris insisted, and a day later did YET ANOTHER 'U' turn.

So which 'declarations' by the Major Catastrophe that goes by the name of Johnson should we listen to? The first ones or the ones he gives a few days later?

Listening to his advice did it for some people, Barbara, especially that about Christmas Day.

Think for yourself is what I do. We could all see covid numbers rising as Christmas approached so why let loose of the reins for one day!

It will be interesting to see what he has to say, what new rules are brought in and whether the arrogant people will do as they are told.
