I have learned a lot about why some are unable to where a mask but I also think more people than that think it is up to themselves to wear one or not, in my opinion they are the ones with blood on their hands.

Amokavid Report 2 Jan 2021 18:28

I wear an exemption card which I downloaded from NHS Scotland, I don't have it on a lanyard but have it secured on the lapel of my jacket, it is more obvious to others worm that way.
I have not (so far) been asked about my exemption from anyone whilst I have had it, other people are not supposed to question why one is exempt.

I thought the Sunflower lanyard was for those with Autistic propblems? therefore not all those who are exempt would / should use those!

Anyone who can’t wear a mask or face shield should be wearing the sunflower logo that tells other people that you have a problem.

Personally, I cannot get over the description of a local consultant anaesthetist during the first wave (known to OH) who was so angry at peoples attitude to the virus he could hardly speak. With so many more nay sayers I worry about him.

Amokavid Report 2 Jan 2021 17:35

Well they should make a point of saying so! too many come on the TV & radio & say similar things re people who don't wear a mask, "they" should also point out the fact that there are some people out there who are NOT able to wear one & not make it sound as though ALL non mask wearers are just being selfish etc etc!

There have been some genuinely ill & elderly people who have been attacked for not wearing them when out & about, & comments like that of that Dr does not help!

Joan.

nameslessone Report 2 Jan 2021 17:01

I would hope that the comments were aimed at people like those outside St Thomas, London who were chanting Covid is a hoax.

I think if I had been the A & E doctor who filmed it I would have broken down in tears.

Amokavid Report 2 Jan 2021 16:00

I do not wear a mask because of health issues AND serious Claustrophobia, & comments like those from the UCLH London doctor are disgusting!
He is accusing ALL the NON wearing mask people "murderers".

I live in a rural area with no immediate neighbours so we don't see anyone outside our home, my hubby & I go for our grocery shop once a week, (he does wear a mask ) we shopvery soon after the store opens so there are few people around, & most wear a mask, but there are members of staff NOT wearing masks!!

I do not have a problem with that as I know from my own problems that they too might also have health issues.
My hubby does wear a mask but it's not an easy for him as his glasses steam up & finds it hard going when walking around with his walking stick as his mask tends to obstruct his "pathway".

He is 78 & has fallen a couple of times recently at home without a mask on, & that's why I worry about him falling in the shop WITH a mask on, something he almost did recently when he didn't notice something on the floor'

No-one is going to compensate him (or me) should he fall & seriously hurt himself or worse die as a result because of wearing a mask! WHO is going to have blood on their hands then if that was to happen!

That UCHL london Dr should think before opening his / her BIG accusing mouth!!

Joan.

Even if I have been out for permitted appointments and I am masked and the clinic I am attending are all masked and gowned I still get worried if I may have picked COVID up

Having to go to the hospital last week for an eye clinic referral I was really don’t want to go but I need to for a diagnosis and possible treatment option

Was impressed the way it was all organised but still spent a few days after hoping for no symptoms

I am self isolating and getting my groceries delivered every week .

I will certainly take up the offer of the vaccine when it’s offered

So they drive to exercise in a park thus causing the health risk, wherever you are there is a likelihood of being robbed.

JoyLouise...sadly very true...for weeks the dog walkers were the only people out all the time..people said they seriously considered getting a dog for an excuse to walk! Then literally one afternoon I go out walking the dog and the streets were packed, the park was packed!! I walked down the middle to miss everyone thank goodness no real traffic :-D
All summer and even now there's enough walking/running that you'll meet up somewhere but usually enough space to distance. I walked every summer evening with a friend me on one side of the road her on the other...2 reasons one to socially distance she has a heart problem doesn't want to get sick....two you can't walk in the middle of the road when there's traffic...we got very good at almost yelling to talk to each other. We see others walking close to each other sometimes with masks but it's not the best even outside better safe than sorry.
Right off for a walk now before the snowstorm hits enjoy! :-D

I’m glad you read it that way Florence, and we did and do our 20 minute walk when we can usually before anyone else is out and about but there are those that put lives at risk because they think they can do want they want by bending the rules to suit themselves. xx. Stay safe.

ZZZzzz i didnt think for a moment you were having a go at me, I was just trying to defend you!

Noone actually needs to drive anywhere to exercise, even if you dont have a garden, you can walk around the block where you live. During the first lockdown, i used to walk for 15 minutes along the main road, turn around and walk back. That was my 30 mins of exercise I had to do.

You do not have to drive to a forest or the beach to exercise contrary to what some people think!

Florence in the hebrides.

It's only about 4 miles in a straight line, but it is impossible to drive anywhere in the west of Scotland in a straight line. Unless you have an amphibious vehicle!

Having said that, Argyll is a big county, even without including the Isle of Bute.

nameslessone Report 1 Jan 2021 14:29

Half an hour. That is a long drive. Three minutes one way, Five minutes another way. Then just about half an hour max the other 2 ways.

I find that latter mention of people walking funny, Caroline.

I hate walking for walking's sake and I'd rather put some music on and dance around the house but we live a few doors along from a park (we can see the edge of it) and, since March, many's the time I've seen people walking whom I've never spotted passing our house before. My daughter lives right opposite the park at the other side across from us and she tells me there have been more people jogging around its perimeter than she has ever seen before.

They may well never walk past our window or jog around the park again once everything is opened up! So, if they don't continue to walk and jog after we reach the other side of covid, will their health be adversely affected then? Weird, innit?

Caroline

Caroline Report 1 Jan 2021 13:43

I do feel for anyone that doesn't have a garden right now, it does make a big difference. Yes you can go to a park etc but then you're forced to be near others to some degree.
Walking the dog I'm out and about all day anyway, when we had our first really nice weather day back in Spring suddenly you couldn't move for people walking around the streets and to the parks.

Andysmum Report 1 Jan 2021 12:26

Here our tiers are not quite the same as yours and we have been told that, although almost the whole country is in tier 4, we should not drive out of our own council area.

So If I want I can drive for about 3 hours in one direction but only about ½ hour in the other!! :-) :-)

A well done graphic.

Wish I had that when trying to explain to someone that you have to trust that the other person in your bubble isn’t also in another one.

We have all seen over the last 9 months that some people believe that permission to drive somewhere for exercise meant that they could drive for hours, go anywhere, as long as they claim it is for exercise. :-P
