It's just sickening all this lockdown again I am ashamed to be a human being part of a very selfish society I want begger you. Us in Scotland have to wait for NS to do her bit God Help us all .Stay safe Barbara

In my opinion had people had done what they were told in the first place then it wouldn’t have got this bad. :-(

'Eat Out to Help Out' increased cases by at least 17%, so you can't just blame 'people'.
Policy had a lot to do with it.

I m very well supplied with porridge oats and dates.

When we were going into lockdown and, for us, shielding, last time, I wondered if we would be able to get milk so I bought those two ingredients to make oat milk if necessary.

We eat porridge and make puddings so they will be used up and, I ca still make oat milk if push comes to shove.

Nobody mentioned 'Ration Books'!

My shopping lists have been as they usually are but around August, I began adding two or three extra items every time I had a delivery - something I have done since the bad winter of 2010/11 (?) when no one could get their vehicle over the brow of the hill we live on, for three weeks . During that period, OH and I trudged through the snow twice to carry back a couple of bags of shopping each and I vowed I would not be caught out again. We are both over 75 now and while I would not want to do that again (perhaps I couldn't?), OH definitely could not do it because of his health.

Once more, I am doing all of our grocery shopping online, something I began to do in the 1990s then stopped when I retired and had time to shop. (Iceland still recognised my password after all those years, believe it or not!).

I have also not forgotten that during that winter, even a grocery delivery van could not make its delivery to a much older acquaintance who lived nearby and whose daughter, living overseas, had ordered an online grocery order for her mother. I knew nothing of it at the time until later, my pal, her next-door neighbour, told me that she had kept her going with Christmas dinner and all sorts.

I thought my winter stash was looking good until last night when I watched the last couple of episodes of 'Mrs America' and saw Phyllis's foodshelves in her cellar. (She with the rigid coiffure and attitude to match!) Her stash far outweighed mine.

I fought off envy though, not least because 'Who would want to be Phyllis FGS?' :-0

I am fairly well stocked up and have delivery slots to 22 November. However at the moment in this area there are no delivery slots available at all with Tesco until 28 November. Yesterday before the announcement there were still slots so they disappeared quickly.

I have an excess of fresh food :-S
My son in law popped around on Thursday, with my 2 youngest grandchildren, on their way home from a short caravan break in the IOW.
He left the food they'd bought on holiday, here, as they wouldn't need it at home.
This included things like eggs, bread, potatoes, pasta, carrots, onions and other veg.
Friday, I found a box on my doorstep, from my other daughter.
This contained 4 litres of milk, eggs, bread, potatoes, carrots, onions, a cabbage, broccoli, 2 huge parsnips, fruit etc.
Strangely, I already had milk, eggs, bread, potatoes, cauliflower, parsnip etc etc!!!

My freezer was full before I got this lot.
I shall be shopping for mixed fruit/raisins, cinnamon and cream - to make bread & butter pudding - I can only freeze so much bread, and it will use up some milk, and a few of the 18 eggs I have - though, to be fair, I've eaten 4 already.
I also need cat food.

Hubby checked out the local shops and there are empty shelves already. :-(

I don't understand why your shops don't introduce rationing.

Back in March, when things first showed signs of getting scarce, our local supermarkets (Tesco and Coop) promptly started rationing loo rolls and sanitiser type things, followed shortly after by various foodstuffs. As a result, we never ran out of anything that came from the UK. The only shortages were items from abroad - pasta being the main one. :-S

We've had rationing on various items as needed over here, so I've got into the habit if I start something I replace it before it's finished to ensure I have some always. Overall everything is usually available now except paper towels right now and wipes. That said we're not in a full lockdown again....yet....

Some shops do have a limit on some things.

I had been buying a few extra things over the last 2 months as thought this may happen again and this time needed to be organised. I havent been bulk buying, just a few extra tins, some rice and pasta etc I now have a large plastic container with my emergency supply.

None of it will go to waste as it will all last months and not go out of date.
I have managed to get a slot with Tesco for 10 Nov. First one for 7 weeks!! We are on the priority list, but it doesnt make any difference.
This weekend we have had 2 storms(still in the throws of the 2nd one) Ferries are off until poss Tuesday so the shelves will be empty.

I am going to get my xmas bits & bobs on my next shop as may not get another for weeks.

I did buy a few boxes of tissues when loo rolls were short, so still have them in my cupboard.
As someone else said, if everyone had done as we were told by social distancing etc, we wouldnt be in this position.
I only read yesterday of a man that held a christening party for his baby. Full marquee, disco and 50 guests. The police were not amused and fined him 10k. The guy didnt really get what the problem was as he said the virus was a hoax!!!!

I could see this coming, so have been buying a little extra for a couple of months. I have enough in the freezer and non perishable things to see me through. I haven’t done that because of fearing shortages, but because I want to keep out of the way as much as possible. Obviously I will need fresh veg, milk, meat yoghurt etc, but I can get those in the smaller shops in the town square without having to go to a larger supermarket

We have powdered milk and always have, I think us “ oldies “ know how to mend and make do where “ youngsters “ don’t have a clue because for most there hasn’t been times when they needed to.
