Watching one of those police programmes gave me a wicked idea.

Now I am a dear old soul, old biddy, I want to carry a knuckle duster. This is not for any nefarious reason at all but just for the hell of it.

Going out armed with intent. I wouldn't if I was you!!

In case I should meet some other old biddy who carries one.

I stroll confidently into shops that have notices banning hoodies while I am wearing one as well. They never seem to stop me.

I agree with Kath. How are you going to prove you didn't mean to use it?

Couldn't could I. Think of the scene at court.

Seeing as the knuckledusters are illegal in any country,

You are a nutter.

Can you imagine the police discovering that this old bid has a knuckleduster in the bag with the knitting, I always carry a dishcloth in the process of being made, a really dull book about something nobody in their right mind wants to know about and a packet of Murray Mints.

Sharron, you could always wear the 'ladies' knuckle duster - a ring (with a suitably sharp decoration - a heart, for example) on each finger :-D

Something like these two 'ethical' rings, for example:

Oh dear no.

Don't want to wear rings, get in my way.

I just like the concept of an old biddy being caught with a knuckleduster.

Actually, I'm not sure, but I believe a knitting needle can be classed as an offensive weapon.

To be honest, considering some of the stuff I knitted in the past, it could be very offensive! :-D :-D

There was a time after 9/11 that you were not allowed to take knitting needles or sewing needles (especially tapestry ones) on planes here. You didn't even get through security with them, they were confiscated right away!

I know.

I have several pairs of Mum's knitting needles dating back to the 1920s and 30s. At least one pair of long needles are made of steel. :-D

I too have quite a quantity of metal knitting needles - usually the thinner ones :-0

Doesn't do the same for your street cred as a knuckleduster though does it?
