Might she have been embarrassed or too proud, many people are when offered things as it makes them realise others are aware of their situation.

I find it strange.
I had an average fridge with a small freezer bit at the top.
My mum offered me her old tall fridge freezer, which I accepted, thinking, if it works, when it breaks down, I'll buy a new one.
It lasted longer than I thought, then my children moved out, it finally gave up the ghost, and, as there was just me, I bought an under the counter fridge freezer (half and half).
This was okay, but when, a couple of years later, I inherited a small amount of money, I decided to get a new tall fridge freezer.

Meanwhile, a friend's fridge (with small freezer bit at the top) had broken, and his sister had given him her very old fridge, that had no freezer bit.
He moaned about the fact that, if he bought say, sausages, he had to eat them for 2 or 3 days on the trot.
I offered him my under the counter fridge/freezer. He refused, in case, apparently, his sister was upset! :-S
His sister never goes to his flat.

He still moans about eating the same thing for 2 or 3 days.
Meanwhile, I will buy some, say, mince (the larger the amount, the cheaper), cook it in one go, put it in individual containers and freeze it.
I can buy multi-packs, and freeze them.
My food bill is probably a lot less than his, and my meals much more varied.

I expect the Trojans regretted accepting a gift horse.

I left it by my car, told her it is there and now it is gone don’t know if she took it or not as not had acknowledgment that she has, I stupidly thought she would, I would.

I have passed on several things to my granddaughter

She is grateful for anything even if it eventually has a short shelf life

Recently gave her a dyson cylinder Cleaner because found it too heavy to lug around

Bought two new rechargeable stick cleaners one for downstairs one for upstairs

She was delighted to get a more powerful cleaner and was going to recycle her cheaper one with less power :-(
