Did it confer some sort of immunity on them then?

Mr Owl and I have stretched ourselves a whole mile and a half in Edinburgh to my parents garden. They have front and back gardens so we could fully social distance when necessary and all enjoy the weather.

My in-laws however live in Port Seton, East Lothian and a 2 minute walk from the beach. The number of cars parking along the road side there is crazy as everyone tries to get to the beach.

All appear to be young folk, some with children. The age of least risk and not giving a damn about those at most risk including their parents and grandparents and others that are vulnerable or the economy. Were they the ones behaving responsibly during the rest of the lockdown......I doubt it? They carried their rubbish to the beaches, so why can't they take it home? Then the poor council workers trying to clear the 300 tons of it left yesterday need police protection from the abuse.

Since when did furlough become a summer holiday? Stop their furlough payments and get them back to work.........cleaning the mess they helped make for a start. I bet some were protesting recently about school not being safe for their children too. It gave them an opportunity to stay at home on pay with the excuse of no childcare. These people don't need the softly, softly approach of education. We've been told every day for months now how important it is to stick to the rules. They are selfish and defiant and dare I say it, think they are 'entitled' more than everyone else.

In normal times the beach areas would be pleased to see these "visitors"



But Common sense flies out of the window............Sometimes

there are ANPR cameras every where surely they can be put to good use and send the visitors a "friendly" warning of advice?

I don't know how easy or effective it would be to close beaches.

I am probably wrong but I think they are all common below the tide-line but some are private above and those who are hell-bent on going to the sea-side will find a way.

There are those who, quite blatantly, flaunt the law about using a mobile phone with no repurcussions so it must be fine to pick and choose which laws you obey.

I watched BBC news this morning when an MP suggested that, because of the powerlessness of the police in Bournemouth they could possibly have brought in some officers from neighbouring forces.

Talk about passing the buck! The thought crossed my mind that MPs ought to rule on this and close down the beaches. They ought not to rely on a few extra officers being able to control people who clearly don't care about their fellow men.

There is no doubt in my mnd that had the police attempted to move people on, the situation would have worsened to the point of violence.

If people still congregate and ignore rules and warnings, the last resort for assisting the police could well be army personnel - not ideal by any means, but judging by the ignorance of members of the public who seemed to be cheek by jowl and who left behind an unholy mess, it may be just the action needed.

I see you have appeared to have amended your post of 12.59. Your post had suggested,once again, that Sturgeon was doing so much better that Johnson. All I did was point out that Sturgeon also had problems with Covid idiots.

Poor old Boris. Doing the very best he can to control Corona virus. Sadly, there is absolutely nothing he can do to control idiocy.

Whoa whoa I am English living in Scotland doing as I am told going out for essentials once a week what ever the idiots want to do up here or down south they are all causing problems & the virus will come back Not my doing . we have lost so many people with Covid 19 it's real you know crying shame do people not realize how foolish they are :-S

Idiots they leave rubbish not to mention as no toilets open other things on the beach children running about I feel ashamed of the human race Boris needs to close beaches if people can't behave fine them £200 each give the money to local councils it beggers belief that you would travel for 3hrs or more to just ruin somebody else's enviroment sod the locals .us being good could suffer with new outbreak .God help us . I thought I’d take a look at the Bournemouth Echo and found this story. A driver was so desperate to get into a full and closed car park they thought they’d get in by going in the exit.

A costly mistake as all four tyres were punctured on the grill.

There was a Dorset councillor on the local news last night. She had been out trying to persuade people waiting in the stationary queue to turn back.

She was spat at.

I know the authorities are under a lot of pressure but I did wonder where they were as the local news reporter made his report with lots of bbq’s alight on the beach behind him.

I bet they were left behind smouldering after the idiots went home.

I was watching an item on the news last night about the Costa del Sol, where the beaches are all marked out with posts and there were marshalls patrolling and moving people who were either too close or not all from the same family.

The holidaymakers concerned were from all over Europe, including a few from the UK.

As an aside, we had an email this morning from booking.com to ask whether we were interested in a beach holiday in August. Most definitely not!!

The miscreants appear to be burdened with a fundamental deficit of understanding. It is highly unlikely that they would ever reach agreement to disperse.

Horrific photos of Bournemouth beach last night all so close together and covered in smoke from the babecues being lit amongst the crowds. What pleasure do they gain from that? and the awful aftermath of litter (and worse) left behind.

You’d think!
But it is probably just an indication of age.
There are already suggestions of infections creeping up. I expect the blame will lie with those being careful :-P

I live way down in Cornwall and I can assure you Dermot that we are all furiously dreading the influx of visitors. So far we have had very little of the virus down here but it can only be a matter of time if they all come flocking down here and not even observing the social distancing. Due to age we haven't been out since it all began and unfortunately feel we will have to stay in for a good while yet.I know the economy and the holiday industry need the income but surely your life and health is more important.
