I did hear that the south-west area was hit hard, Allan, so I hope you find nothing more than your fence to rebuild or mend.

What an added burden that no one needed!

My friend and ex-colleague moved to Yanchep (north of Perth, as you probably know) and we keep in touch. When she rang on Saturday she barely mentioned the weather - more about our families than anything else.

I have not heard from another friend who moved to Secret Harbour, south of Perth, so I have a feeling that all is not good. She was due to come across here again this year and we were looking forward to catching up - but the virus put the kybosh on that visit.

You now have an added burden to cope with there, Allan, but I hope your property suffers no further damage and I hope that it's not too long before things get back to the 'normality' of lockdown for you and for others.

Allan so sorry to hear about this new storm, as long as you and OH are well you can build back up from there. Take care.

No further damage that I could see except for the fence which had already been partially blown over when the previous storm hit and was therefore already in a weakened condition.

I was really worried about the roof mounted air-conditioner which again had been damaged in the last storm, but nothing further appears to have happened to it.

JoyLouise, the Mandurah/Rockingham area (Secret Harbour is situated between both cities) was affected but I don't know how badly. Unfortunately, Mandurah, whilst a very nice place, does have a reputation as a 'windy city' in times of storms.

Your friend probably didn't mention the weather as the storm didn't hit until Sunday. I think that Perth was hit around late morning/early afternoon. We copped it later in the day and the winds finally died down yesterday (Monday) evening.

One house close to use had a beautiful flame tree in their garden. Alas the tree is no more, neither is their carport :-0 There may have been damage to the house as well.

Seen a picture of flooding in Perth. Be careful Allan and hope your weather will calm down.

My Yanchep friend is fine, Allan. She contacted me this morning to say that it was rainy, cold and windy but only to be expected at this time of year but she knew it was worse for those living south of Perth particularly.

Not a peep from Secret Harbour yet, I'm afraid. :-(

What's it like for you now?

Pat, we are 160 km south of Perth near the Leschenault inlet, or estuary. This has been wild but is protected from the Indian Ocean by a narrow spit of sand hills so there has not been the same degree of inundation as in Perth where the Swan River discharges directly into the Indian Ocean.

The weather has certainly eased, the insurers have agreed to cover the cost of the most recent damage to our fence so in that regard all is well.

Ironically, the fence coming down has led to very much more interaction with our neighbours which is a totally good thing..

Allan, just heard from Secret Harvour. They were away in the caravan inland when they heard the storm was heading for the western areas. They decided to head further inland and hunker down until it had passed as they had plenty of supplies with them.

They arrived home last night to find no damage to their property but some of the coastal paths near them had been washed away.

She also told me that after being virus-free for ages, a sheep ship entered Fremantle and everyone onboard tested positive for covid. The crew is quarantined in a Perth hotel.
