Been ordering on line Pound shop they deliver up & down the country I have checked on line it can take 10days for delivery some essential items avaliable .might be worth a try if you need anything Barbara

Ordered toilet paper online from Sainsbury’s as I need it. I’m not stockpiling and yet they now have none. Mr Owl drives but I don’t and he’s burst discs in his back so can’t drive at the moment. There’s only so much I can carry home and I’m getting utterly frustrated at the stockpilers taking essentials.

Sylvia, when we returned to England and I did my first supermarket shop, as I had become used to packers at every check-out, I stood looking around, smiling and chatting - oblivious to the huge number of items piling up. Only when I reached into my purse did it dawn on me that no packers were employed here.

Quickly apologising to everyone in the queue, I packed.

What a lovely bunch of people because not one tutted or made any derogatory comment about strange women at all. :-D


Some news and I've asked Allan whether it's true: Oz scientists have successfully treated some CV19 victims.

OH did the weekly grocery shopping this afternoon .............. we use our own bags, but the cashier would not pack them as usual. Nor was OH allowed to pack them.

She had to pack ALL items into plastic bags.

I lost count as I unpacked them at home. I think it was 9 plastic bags :-| :-| :-|

Yes, as are supposed to be phasing out plastic bags by April 1st. Most stores have already done so or are charging for them. But Sobeys, the group that now owns Canada Safeway, declared they would carry on using free plastic bags until ?????

I'm not even sure they were intending to stop on April 1st ............ probably looking at challenging the new by law!


Meat counters practically bare, only small amounts of fish, even imitation crab was sold out and that rarely happens!! Potatoes in short supply, some milk out of stock.

Our local ALDI is now asking all customers to wear masks and gloves; it was so embarrassing, everyone else was fully dressed :-S

Sue I made an order out for Asda a week ago for delivery 30th March it has gone down by half a lot not available so added some things today will have to keep checking it's not nice .I have Sent you message Barbara

It's getting worse trying to order online.

Booked a delivery and did some shopping on my list and I turned PC off cos I was going to bed(nearly midnight).

Opened my order the next day and Morrisons had taken it all off and cancelled the delivery.

Now there are no delivery slots on the site and everything is restricted,bread,milk,butter.


It's bloody disgusting that being an Pensioner that I can't get a delivery of food which is my monthly shop and used it every month for the last 7 years.

I cannot get out as years ago I broke my back and cannot walk very far without pain.

Been on the phone to them for the last 25 minutes and no one answering.

sometimes it's impossible to get to a store when it isn't packed out, even at normal time, unless you go at 1 am!

Our stores are also beginning to be open for shorter hours

OH went out yesterday afternoon about 2.00pm to have some jewellery cleaned. She popped into the supermarket whilst she was out, all the usual paper item aisles were bare, but she did buy some milk, a 2 litre bottle, which is all we need. and managed to buy a packet of oats which she had been after for a while.

Very little meat and frozen foods left, but at least the store wasn't crowded :-D

I can't get my head round why (some) people are putting themselves and others at risk in crowded supermarkets and the queues outside - are they stupid enough to think this virus is only going to set off at the weekend?

I despair of the human race :-(

OH went out this morning to try to get new batteries for, of all things, a digital thermometer.

We've always had at least 1 thermometer in the house, but I realised we hadn't used one for at least a year. So I went to get it plus the extra .............. both digital.

Neither working ............... but one has instructions on how to replace the battery. The other doesn't, I guess it's "disposable"

However, trying to buy the battery has been frustrating to say the least, and of course no thermometers to be found.

Today he decided to try a huge big box electronics store where we buy his computer things.

Door guarded, yellow boxes marked on the sidewalk to indicate where to stand. Staff member asked what he was there to buy, then told him where to wait.

They were allowing no more than 2 customers in at a time.

When it was his turn he was directed to "Batteries", found 2, was told "sorry but we can't insert them for you"(!), and then had to pay ................ no cash allowed, so had to use the credit card for a very small amount

Now we (he) have to find out how to get the battery cover off the thermometer.


He also managed to find a bag of potatoes while he was out!

We are all worrying unnecessarily about food and toiletries.

My granddaughter tells me that when she and her partner went to shop where they live there was no beer left!!! (She could hardly believe it.)

So, the lesson to be learned from this is - everyone who likes a beer, stock up while you can cos you may face a dire few months. ;-) :-D

Just been to C....‘S to buy something we’ve been promising ourselves and in conversation with a staff member whilst waiting for the warehouse to bring our order, we learnt that they had sold out of freezers and fridge freezers.

So that is where all the food has gone :-P

Apparently there was a queue at Sainsbury's Ashford Kent before 6 a m this morning.

At a smaller Sainsbury's locally, they had an early allotted time for elderly, but there was very little to be bought as deliveries had not yet come through for restocking.
Such a shame for those people who had struggled to get there early.

A friend went to the 8-9 session this morning and he said it was as manic as if he'd gone at 11 am.

A neighbour 79 was at Sainsbury's this morning 8am There was queue when they got in they were emptying shelves & grabing stuff of the assistants she was really upset I have told her I will order on line share my shopping .the world has mad Barbara .
