Allan Report 6 Mar 2020 21:05

….but OH has been referred to a Neurosurgeon by her GP.

This follows on from an MRI scan done recently as part of an investigation into possible hearing problems.

The MRI picked up some deterioration in some of the discs of the vertebrae near the base of the skull. It also picked up some blocked blood vessels.

So, off soon for a cerebral angiogram just waiting to hear back from the lab that undertakes this procedure.

As for the Neurosurgeon, the GP suggested that by the time her receives an appointment OH would probably have forgotten all about it.

The waiting time is at least two years :-S :-S

Always bear in mind that what is a one off problem for you to face, is just another days work for the medical staff. They have see it, done it, healed it all before.

I am so sorry to hear this Allan :-(

Allan Report 6 Mar 2020 22:05

Thanks, Jem and Sharron.

We were worried that the initial scan, which triggered all this drama, would show that the hearing problem was due to there being nothing inside the skull to trap the sound ;-) :-D :-D

I hope all is well Allan. My daughter is having an MRI scan for just the same and they may well find she has a warped mind like mine :-D :-D :-D

Allan smack yourself for being nasty to OH...there's plenty in her skull she just chooses to ignore you some of the time.

Hope she is okay in herself, the wait can be awful but the positive spin is if it were very urgent she might not have such a long wait. Long waits for non-urgent appt can happen here even with kids.

Look on the bright side - if she hadn't had the scan - no-one would have known.
The angiogram will give more detailed results.
There's more than one neurosurgeon!

I hope it all goes well, and soon, Allan <3

Lol, Maggie, we are talking about Western Australia :-D

The angiogram is for the blocked blood vessels and the Neurosurgeon, who we'll have to travel to Perth to see is, according to the GP, just for advice on how to manage the issue.

Mind you, if her head falls off in the next two years we'll both be having a few harsh words with the medicos ;-)

Advice? Surely it'll be a neck brace!
Had a school governor once, who wore one.
She'd received whiplash in a car accident - but refused to dispose of the neck brace once her neck had recovered, as she'd worked out a series of outfits to wear with it!
:-D

My Dad wore a neck brace for years. He broke his back whilst serving with the RAF during WW2. He was medically discharged in 1944

Sorry to read of your OH's health worry.
I do hope all the tests give a clearer picture of what's happening and that your wife can be helped towards a good outcome.

Allan ...............

we know that you appreciate it could be serious and a little worrying until you find out more. xxx

I think making light of, or trying to find something to laugh about, in a serious or wrroying situation is something that many of us do.

Did I ever tell you about playing Frisby with the lightweight trial breast prosthesis with the 3 others in my ward back in 1995???? :-D :-D :-D

The nurses came in to find out why there was so much noise ;-)
