kali mera - good morning

kali nichta - good night

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 31 Dec 2019 20:45

The nichta part sounds more Germanic (Nicht - Night)

Welsh is back to front with the descriptive word second

Nos Da (Night Good)

Bore Da (Morning Good)

Welsh is part Germanic isn't it as a Celtic language?

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 31 Dec 2019 20:49

It does have some Germanic elements to it.
A form of which was the language of the whole of Great Britain at one time.

Welsh & Cornish most closely connected to each other and then Scottish and Irish, but all of a Celtic root.
The Gallic People were Celts too

In fact Cornwall was called West Wales at one time.

When we had fragmented kingdoms.

Pity so few look at history. We watch quizzes and the number of people who know nothing of history is ridiculous :-(
