my mother used to make it ,just egg and bacon , if the bacon was green she used to add a little salt,i add a very small pinch of dried mixed herbs.no salt. :-) |

I don't think I am allergic, I just agree with Tec that the heat overwhelms other flavours and detracts from them. I find the sensation of heat very uncomfortable too. |

Yuk. Chilli. In my case, just 1 flake as an ingredient burns my mouth & makes my lips go numb. Cayenne pepper & coriander have the same effect. They don’t introduce flavour, they swamp it with fire....in my opinion. |

I have tried putting other things in the pie and it is just not the same at all and how much bacon or vege bacon you use depends on how much you have available. I think it was invented to eke out meagre rations and a slice of pie is far more satisfying than an egg and half a rasher. |
