How have you filled your day?

The consensus at our coffee morning was that our County Council has gone doolally. Not the staff, you understand, but some, if not most, of the councillors. Demonstration takes place tomorrow - not me, you understand, but those ratepayers who will be most affected by an abysmal decision in my opinion.

Some councillors think they are so important and what they say must be obeyed Joy. Head councillor kept taking his appeal higher and higher when he wanted daughter to adjust plans so cyclists (he was one) would have a seperate right of way on a roundabout - the last appeal he was told he was asking for something that was dangerous and illegal and he should listen to his engineer :-S

Used to get councillors in all the time when developers could not get what they wanted, Pat. :-D

I shall be with them in spirit, Pat. :-D

Some have no idea how complex the plans are on roads. I only know a little what daughter tells me about but there are some idiots about. No common sense. :-0

One of our local councillors cant even close a garden gate on their way out :-0 no hope for some :-|

I have been known to go against local councillors ;-)

They are no different to us Pat ;-)

Some of them are Fly but some I wouldn't give you tuppence for. So full of themselves.

When we had a city council the planners were great and straightforward. When we wanted an extension, I drew up the plans and calculated the percentage of solid faces of the house and glass - environmental concerns made it necessary. I stood in front of the guy with a rather fetching smile I my face, explaining I had gone .4% over.

.4% is negligible in my book so I was not asking for much. Plans were passed. :-D

Another time, County Council this time, I argued with the young planner and in the end I gave a little on the back and he gave a little on the front. He told me I could appeal. I told him I had seen too many appeals fail when it came to households.

We came under the City Council before unitary authority came in. Now everyone is subject to the whims of councillors throughout the county.

Fly, have you considered putting one of those snap shut thingies on your gate - not the gentle ones rather the vicious snapping ones? :-D
