How long would a bottled lager last past its sell by date?

Ages. Open it, if it still has a bit of fizz in it, drink it.

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 May 2019 20:08

We don't drink much lol, if I get a bottle of wine for Christmas it is usually still in the cupboard a year or two later :-) and I think there's still an unopened bottle of rum from about 5 years ago?

The only drinks that I definitely would not try after their 'best before date' are those containing dairy products, eg Bailey's Irish Cream.

Not sure about UK labelling, but in Oz those types of drinks have to have a use by date on them.

Beers also have such dates, but can last well past that date.

Wines are fine

Allan you've matured :-)

If you don't drink why do people give you booze Rambling :-)

lol well it's not that I 'don't' drink but that I do it so rarely ;-) I'm a coffee addict so other drinks don't get much of a look in.

Son got given rum for birthday/Christmas several years running, and he doesn't drink much at home and sensibly when he's out, so there it sits :-) .

Following a particularly interesting Sunday afternoon when I was eighteen, I could not even smell whiskey without my gut knotting up for many years.

You can bet that, if I won a raffle or somebody wanted to thank me for something, or the boss gave me a Christmas present, it would be a bottle of whiskey.

There were seven in the cupboard at one time.
