Why can't we all agree to disagree and stop pulling both leaders of the top parties apart and knuckle down to getting on.

We should all get behind the Government and give the Conservatives a good chance of negotiating Brexit .

Please don't let this post get any nasty remarks as it won't make a blind bit of difference.

I am reminded of the saying about " being kind to the people you pass on the way up - you may pass them again on the way down" :-)

I've always said for any of the elections in any of the countries don't assume you know the result until the votes have actually been counted.

Well, aside from suppositions - and there has been a lot of suppository - sorry suppositious posts on this thread over the past week or so, we shall have to wait and see what the 1922 committee comes up with.

Paddy Power have a hung election at 7/2 which sounds a good bet for a monkey. See you can have a prezzie even if Dermot won't shell out.
According to PP 87% agree with Rollo. OTOH Rollo is a proven disaster at the bookies.

A hung result could be entertaining.

The SNP have destroyed Labour in Scotland no love lost there.
Callaghan was propped up by the Irish who then whipped away the ladder. The Tories won't repeat the mistake.
The LibDems won,'t promise a rose garden again.
Another election impossible.
Also impossible to govern as a minority with a hostile opposition.
So .. Labour - Tory grand coalition. Such a left right coalition has worked out fine in Germany. No wonder May already has the knife out for Hammond.
Just a thought.

It seems logical that the DUP will want to benefit from any support they give the Conservatives ( keeping this simple because I am a simple soul lol) extra funding for infrastructure etc etc plus a deal on a 'soft' border has already been mentioned.

I do not think that England, Scotland and Wales will be best pleased to see taxes go up to pay for the inevitable pot of gold the DUP will ask for?

So whether Mrs May is in charge of Brexit negotiations or not ( and personally I think she should be, you reap what you sow lol ) then she is going to have to walk a very fine tightrope.

Labour tried to do a deal with DUP in 2010, so what's the big deal?

Rose, I don't think she realises how siding with the DUP could harm the peace process.

Supporters of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) have (allegedly) been asked by Portadown Loyal Orange Lodge if the demands could include allowing a banned loyalist march to be part of an agreement by the Northern Irish party to prop up a minority Conservative government.
They'd like the Gavaghy Road March to be reinstated.
They are currently prevented from marching in Gavaghy Road, following a long history of sectarian violence,

I would assume any party from any part of the country wouldn't do a deal for free no matter who was asking.

As for betting ...it's like going to the casino and placing loads of bets each time, maybe once in a while you'll win Rollo. I don't reckon any forecast is a waste of time, the weather forecast has improved a lot lately, and just to hedge their bets they often throw in a 30% chance of showers so if it does rain you were warned if it doesn't you're happy. :-)

We can go over this time and time again but it's obvious you'll not able to listen to anyone else point of view, and it's not just me saying it so why bother.

Just dashing in to ask whether anyone saw the news (I think) last night when someone (an MP?) said that it would be a hard Brexit or no Brexit?

I was busy at the time and missed much of it.

If I heard right, does anyone think that we're only heading for no Brexit and government is going through the motions simply to show us that Brexit is not going to be palatable to the public?

I am interested in knowing whether I heard what I think I did.

I (personally) think all MP's are spouting hot air at the moment, JoyLouise.

Until we know the result of the 1922's Committee meeting, and whether the DUP will definitely be on May's side - then whether the Queen's Speech gets through - no-one knows anything! :-D :-D
