Pity they did not get a baby sitter..

Quite right Liz. I am afraid I have always had my doubts about Maddie's parents and still have. It does not sit well we with me at all.

I am up to chapter 5 ( Thanks to our very own Muffy )
and cant see anything up to now
Which could be objected to
Its not graphic and no unjust allegations have been made
Its just a account of a normal copper doing his job
No poor me comments no glorification of the writer
and is just an account of how things went from the Polices point of view
and why the McCanns where suspects
Which to be honest
Due to their actions i completely understand

A much easier to read than Kates book
which i found hard going :-D :-D

If they have nothing to hide
let people read the book for themselves
and make their own minds up :-D :-D

He doesn't seem altogether trustworthy, given his history.

Read his book
Then make up your own mind ;-) ;-)

Guinevere Report 21 Apr 2016 16:28

I prefer the Guardian for unbiased comment. They have no axe to grind, unlike a discredited ex-policeman out to cash in.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 21 Apr 2016 16:47

The McCanns also used Maddie's disappearance as a massive cash cow
Only 12/13 % has actually been used in a search for her
And lets face it if my child was missing
the last thing on my mind would be making money out of her/him

I would be out searching for my child with my bare hands
Unlike the McCanns who never searched at all

And as for the 48 questions Kate refused to answer
I would of done my best to assist the police all i could :-D

But there again I would never of left my child home alone in the first place

Guinevere Report 21 Apr 2016 17:04

I can see which websites you are a fan of, Joy. I prefer to keep a fairly open mind and read only proven facts, not speculation, and not add to the grief of people already suffering.

Neither you nor I have a clue what happened to Madeleine and neither do the people asking the so-called 48 questions. I find those running such sites a bit pathetic and overly invested in something that is actually none of their business.

The speculation and feverish imagination is hurtful to the parents of a missing child. It adds nothing to the enquiry of what has happened to Madeleine and has sometimes impeded the work of the police.

The persecution of Madeleine's parents is distasteful and bizarre.

Your just not winning me over
with a link 9 years out of date

Don't forget I believed them at that time too

It was only after reading Kates book I changed my mind
To many things didn't add up ;-) ;-)

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 21 Apr 2016 17:32

The link is as true today as it was then, Joy. The facts don't change no matter how many books he writes or how much he makes up in an effort to appear half way competent.

His record is there for all to see. And it isn't pretty.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 21 Apr 2016 17:38

Maybe they should take the lie detector they where offered ;-) ;-)

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 21 Apr 2016 17:47

Lie detectors don't work, surely you realise that? They are inadmissible in courts everywhere for that very reason.

That's the sort of nonsense the McCanns have to put up with. If they took the tests and passed everyone would say that polygraphs are proven to be inconclusive so it proves nothing. If they failed people would say, "Aha!" Either way polygraphs prove nothing so there's no point. Bad science.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 21 Apr 2016 17:52

In some countries polygraphs are used as an interrogation tool with criminal suspects or candidates for sensitive public or private sector employment. US law enforcement and federal government agencies such as the FBI and the CIA and many police departments such as the LAPD use polygraph examinations to interrogate suspects and screen new employees. Within the US federal government, a polygraph examination is also referred to as a psychophysiological detection of deception (PDD) examination

But they aren't reliable. That's why they can't be used in court.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-human-beast/201303/do-lie-detectors-work

It doesn't matter who uses them, they just aren't reliable. Like dunking witches in the middle ages, very hit and miss.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 21 Apr 2016 18:44

well i would still of did one
If it helped in anyway to find my child :-D

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 21 Apr 2016 18:58

There is no way a test that is unreliable could possibly help. Just add more confusion and feed the slavering loons who play detective on the internet.

JoyBoroAngel Report 21 Apr 2016 19:31

If Goncalo had lost his appeal,
the McCanns next step was to force Goncalo and Sofia to divorce,
So the house Sofia and their children live in, could be sold.
They would then claim Goncalo's share of the money
he would have received from the sale of the house

. The McCanns didn't give a stuff that this family home, was probably
the only house these two children had lived in. :-(

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 21 Apr 2016 19:56

So what? He didn't give a stuff about their children's feelings when he wrote the book. My heart does not bleed for him.
