If you 'export a gedcom' particularly if you have made a number of additions, it can always be 'imported' onto another site. It is exported into an email to you in an unreadable state, ready to import. You may lose some attachments, but the tree will remain safely. |

Sirs, I have just renewed my membership for Genes Reunited, mainly so that I could access my tree . I have since seen that this company is either closing or has closed. Can you please tell me what is happening, and will my details be safe if it does close, and would it be possible in that case to transfer this data, as there is quite a lot of it, elsewhere.(Say, by Gedcom) I have been a member for many years but let it lapse previously due to the fact I am a senior citizen and felt, at the time I couldn't afford the membership fees. |

Our FTM 2005 was originally on Windows XP, then transferred to W8.1 and then to W10, all without problems. |

The news about FR ending was apparently put up on FR back in December by Steve Pankhurst |

I'm like Andysmum. I use FTM 2005 and it does all I want it to do. I only have a very small number of people on my family tree on Genes - in fact I haven't updated it in about 10 years. |

you can also put your tree on the free Mormon website - www.familysearch.org |

Am I right in thinking though that FTM is not supported by windows 10? |

Squirrel, unless you use the sync with Ancestry, you don't need to do anything. |

Haven't had my tree here for a while. Really should put a gedcom version on here. My main tree is on family tree maker for mac- I don't know what I'm going to do when they stop supporting it in a year's time. |

I have mine on my own computer, and a small version on ancestry ........... but that one is made Private so that it cannot be seen by all and sundry and information "stolen" willy nilly. |

LindaAngela It's just a guess but as FMP have recently mentioned on their FB page that they are working on making 'sharing trees' a feature on their site, that people with GR trees ( should GR close as an independent site) would be able to move their tree to FMP quite easily? |

If GR were to close, to where could I move my tree? Please. |
