I have lost the art of having a bit of fun & a laugh. It happened around the time I became eligible for my senior citizen bus pass. Worse still when I became a beneficiary of the old age state pension.

Thankfully, I decided not to join the orderly Friday queue of pipe-smoking chaps (& a few ladies too it seems) at the one of five Post Office counter staff allocated to us layabouts collecting our miserly benefit while putting the world problems to right.

Coffee & a jam doughnut afterwards at the local bakery shop used to be the treat of the weekly outing. But no more. Someone who cared a little became a bit anxious about my rotund stomach (my money belt as I refer to it.) She bought me a smashing new pushbike hinting that it would be advisable to make some use of it.

I have. But the money belt is still in situ - empty! And she collects my pension for me. :-S

Fly <3 according to the doctor this morning I'm ;-) er, em, hmm, ah ha, might be this, might be that :-S and I am no wiser than I was before I saw him :-D :-D :-D

Dermot, you gotta have fun. Here's how to raise a smile for the one who has forbidden doughnuts. When she comes through the door put your index fingers under your eyes and pull down at the same time as putting your thumbs at the corner of your mouth pulling it up and out into a smiley position.

Practise in front of a mirror first, I always fall about giggling.

If that doesn't crack a smile then she may think you've gone doolally. :-D

Just cleared the decks and got notelets, birthday cards and old Christmas cards spread on the kitchen table while I try to match envelopes to them. It's infuriating so I may have to go and pull faces at myself in the mirror for a bit of light relief. :-S
