If you've got satellite see if you can pick up an English BBC channel. Alternatively you should be able to view Frank Gardners episode on iplayer tomorrow.
It's strange that your region is replacing it with a Drama. :-S

There's a phone number here!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/corporate2/scotland/about/contactus

If they'd substituted with an important regional news or documentary programme it would be understandable. Was there originally plans for a Parliamentary vote or debate do you think?

I will be watching it tonight on London BBC1 at 9pm ch 954.

As Joan says we are not getting it up here, my OH told me
this last week.

Next week as has been said its Anita Rani, Country File presenter
and she is also on Strictly Come Dancing :-)

At the moment I am reading The Taming of the Queen
by P Gregory!
It's 1545 two years before Henry dies and his son Edward
is made King.
Edward Seymour is a main character at court.

I found tonight's episode very interesting and the name Stanhope made me sit up
as I'd read about him before.

When he broke down and cried at the outcome of his grt grandparents lives
I felt that his feelings were still quite raw as he had not long lost his mother.

What a wonderful experience for him to learn that his 29x grt grandfather was
William the Conqueror.

Wonderful episode Emms....we can only dream of ever getting that far back :-) <3

What an interesting episode! :-) The first where I haven't fallen asleep. I thought everything that Frank said and his emotions were genuine and not playing to the camera....such interesting ancestors with incredible background documentary evidence :-)

What a very nice man he is, and so interested in all the ins and outs, so intelligent and really wanting to know. But what a fantastic tree, one we can mostly only dream about, to go directly back to William the Conqueror, wow! :-)

OH certainly got caught up with the story, especially linking back to the Normans.
The family didn't only descend from the Invaders, they came from THE Invaders :-D
He was a bit disappointed we don't have a 'Sir' in our family.

The only distracting note for me was Frank Gardners black T Shirt. It looked as if he'd been wearing it while decorating and had splashes of white paint on it.
And yes, it was a shock seeing him in the opening segment of the following news programme.

We need more programmes like that

What was frank doing on the news programme?

A few years ago was struggling with OH family tree - we had got to 1588 & got stuck - then someone on GR answered a thread request I had added to find info on members of his family & offered up their tree as he had the same person in his tree hat we were looking for.

I stayed up till 2am writing up the tree (in case I lost it on the internet) it took OH tree back to 1030 and one of the Knights who came over to England in 1066 with William the conqueror - I was in a dream world & OH lost for words

The following weekend I wrote to the National trust to check the tree details with them as it was locked in to one of their properties. The archivist got back to me a month later to confirm the authenticity of the tree.

Since then we have been adding to the branches and working on the maternal lines

Miracles do exist & we can all get a lucky break at some point - now I need one for my family tree

Its amazing what you can find when you have an aristocrat in your family tree.

I enjoyed Anita Rani's programme last night.

I knew at the time of Partition a lot of terrible things
happened to girls and women but when the old
gentleman described what had gone on in their village
I was shocked.

Very moving for her to hear all that and it brought a tear to my eyes also.

Tabitha Report 2 Oct 2015 14:13

I have only seen the first 20 mins so far - will watch it again tonight

I wish they did not write subtitles in White on a very light background - makes it very hard to read - will make sure i get closer to the TV tonight

I think it will be a good show & very interesting as i love hearing about the Old India and days of Rudyard Kipling - i have always loved Kim

I liked the way she was with her family at home & extended family

However her actual personality drove me mad - I watched her on Strictly & thought - OMG she is so hyper & over the top & thought it was the show that did it - then I saw her on WDYTYA & she was exactly the same. i prefer someone a lot calmer like Frank last week

She is very eciteable and hightly strung. She is on Countryfile, a very good presenter but a little goes a long way.
