No he didn't have much to contribute to a sensible debate I suppose - although I didn't think it was reportable.

I was at the supermarket and a group of young mums (about 5 or 6) were chatting, and stating that none of them were going to bother voting. Seems that neither were their partners either. I've heard this so much of late and am wondering what the turn-out will be. Really interesting, and I will also be up waiting to see what happens ;-) :-)

The turn out in the last election was only about 65 per cent.

There are (at least) 2 misapprehensions that some people have - that government has some responsibility to improve their lot, and that 'things should always get better'.

There's always the wailing about broken 'promises' etc. as if it's something new. Governments don't always do what they say they're going to - they just do what they have to :-)

Sounds like anarchy to me!

Governments have a vital role in maintaining the stability and normality of a country.

SheilaSomerset

SheilaSomerset Report 6 May 2015 20:01

Oh, not anarchy, government is entirely necessary but I prefer it to interfere with my life as little as possible!

I think Piers that's the problem if they don't vote .they will still complain about whomever gets in no 10 .go out & ask questions of your MP .make your voice heard .Its every ones right to vote. stop complaining & do something its your country & we All live in it .That's the end of the party politic speech ;-) Thanks all for your Comments ..I have got me pop corn & lemon Squash :-D

Well I wont be venturing near a polling booth tomorrow, as a free day I have too much to do for my own satisfaction,,,,, :-)

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 6 May 2015 21:18

if the polls are anything like close the election is going to be just a prelude to be followed by a month or so of Westminster fisticuffs in the secret tunnels under Whitehall. Meanwhile brave Dave remains PM and all the government minsters carry on in office. This arrangement, government without the inconvenience of MPs, might quite suit the front bench. Saves on removal bills too.
