She asked for an input on whether anyone else thought that THREE threads stickied at the top had been there for a long enough period of time, and whether GR had a time limit


She never ever named a thread.


Nor did any of the posters who agreed with her that there should be a time limit


It was Hayley who jumped to the conclusion that it was BC's thread that was meant.



Nor does asking for a thread to be unstickied equate with "pulling it" .........

......... all it means is that the thread will not automatically remain at the top of the Board


you can keep a thread there by posting on it every morning, or it slips slowly down the Board ......................


and event then, it can always be found by checking in My Threads



Just as the thread for Jonesey was found this morning and raised to the top of the Genealogy Board to honour the 1 year anniversary of his death.

I see .................


so someone asking for the thread to be unstickied .................... as did happen several times since December or January

.............. and GR agreeing to the request


would NOT have resulted in someone posting a thread complaining about it??



It really is sounding as though it is the fact that a request was made for opinions on the topic is the problem


.......... and I honestly see that the suggestion that this was wrong is stifling free expression and free speech

BCs name was mentioned long before Hayley seen it and got upset Sylvia

I cant even express how hurt she is
and that has saddened me

Has Hayley received any counselling since BC died?

I am feeling very worried if she is still in such a tender state of health more than 6 months after BC's death.

I feel strongly about the way that Shirley has been treated .............. and the way in which opinions expressed by myself and others have been dismissed and almost treated as unworthy

Sylvia is just being honest...not bullying at all.

How would anyone know that certain members, who have not posted for ages, would be extremely upset and offended where, clearly, no offence was meant? We don't know what goes on in people's lives on a day-to-day basis.

I just looked back for the thread I had to add telling of our lovely Deanna's passing. I started it on 22nd August 2011 and the last post on it was 13th Sept 2011 Presumably it was stickied for most of that time, I can't remember but no fuss was made when it moved down the boards, it was the way of things. I did put up a thread on the first anniversary.

Grief affects people in different ways and hopefully those severely affected will have the support of their family and close friends to gradually move on and remember only the good times of their friendship.

I didn't need a thread to remember Deanna, or Caz or any of our dear friends no longer with us, and often think of them and talk about them. My first thought when we lost Joyce was of her meeting up with Caz, and Deanna and all those gone ahead.

May all our loved friends rest in peace.

StrayKitten - thank you for saying it is your final post - this thread has become somewhat inflamed.

I am sure that those members who are no longer with us would not wish to see so many distasteful comments from various quarters.

Sylvia - I have to agree with you. I am shocked that a (thankfully) small minority have taken it upon themselves to take this personally and think it is related to just one member of whom the obituary and condolence thread was posted initially well over seven months ago.

Sylvia, no way have you been a bully.
Shirley, you should not feel bad about starting this thread and try not to be upset about the comments that were made against you. You didn't deserve them.

Can we now leave all our loved ones to rest in peace?

I've had an email from GR saying they have done as I requested and unstickied my post about Stella.

SueMaid had asked for the same to happen to the Berona thread. SueMaid was the OP.

they have been unstickied, and therefore have slipped down the Board to the date when someone last posted on there


I believe one at least can be found if you go back to December



"gone" implies they have been removed from the Board ................ that is inaccurate

I am glad to see that Shirley's OP has been reinstated .................


everyone can see that there was nothing wrong with what she posted.
