Cardi or not Errol I won't be paying £3 for a coffee lol. Not to be drinking it in the town centre anyway ...maybe somewhere beautiful and interesting, then I might 'just' be able to swallow the price along with the coffee.

My apologies for digressing to the topic of cardis.
I really do appreciate the seriousness of the topic, just trying to add a little levity, before war breaks out. :-)

I am not well up on the technicalities of the internet, except to know that the more experienced teenager can easily circumvent any barriers to finding what they want to find. As to the opening question, parents should of course take responsibility for what they let their children have access to, not necessarily only by installing controls, but by talking and teaching their child that everything that is found on the internet has to be filtered by the most important censor of all.

Just as another digression, kindle readers or indeed book readers, are much less annoying in queues than those with a seemingly irresistible desire to tell the world and his wife about their various exploits whilst having a phone glued to their ear and not even stopping the conversation to say 'thankyou' to staff when they get to the counter.

Re Starbucks, they have just opened one in the town centre, I am told the coffee is good, but £3 ?! :-0

As a young man I had a serious fracture of my left arm playing rugby. As a left handed person this was a tad inconvenient. Not being one to allow the minor inconvenience of an arm in plaster to put a brake on things I carried on with life including cycling. Inevitably I suppose this ended up with a crash into a tree and the spare arm broken too.

As I was studying for A levels I was a bit stuck. There being no such thing as a Kindle a friend ( teacher ) rigged me up with a device allowing me to turn the page with my toes. Absolute hoot in the classroom and no prep to do!!! All in all a gain as I ended up with a very good memory as I could not write or make notes.

I got my right arm back in action soon enough to scrawl some stuff into the exam papers.

There are of course many worse hassles having two broken arms than writing and reading. Don't ask just use yr imagination. Children are unkind so I developed a thick skin too

It is a pretty poor show to pepper somebody else's thread with a large number of trite and irrelevant observations. If you wish to take a dig at somebody than by all means start another thread and do so.

Otherwise try and add something which is relevant to the discussion so far as you can follow it.

I have an old b&w Kindle which is at its most useful when holding tech manuals so that I don't have to cart them around with me. It is also handy when travelling especially given the attitude of RyanAir and others to check in weight. OTOH I would never use it as my reading device as choice. It is wildly unlikely that Errol cannot spring for one of these gadgets.

Last quarter's sales figures showed a sharp decline in the sales of ePads of all kinds together with a sharp rise in the sales of printed books both hardback and paper. Taken with the revival of quality vinyl recordings there may be a change in the wind.
