Tangerines [and other Xmas treats of old]

just been thinking about the tangerines we used to get at Christmas time when I was a child - they were individually wrapped in tissue paper which had gold writing on it - they had the real smell of Christmas - wonder why we don't see them anymore? |

Oh yes I remember that smell. We just seem to see clemantines these days. I can't eat oranges but could eat tangerines. |

OH! Thanks for that Ann I was just saying to OH half an hour ago how we used to enjoy them thingy's and could we remember their name this was after we had peeled a Clemantine and found them Sour. At least I won't be thinking about the name now. :-D :-D |

clementines are not nice - bought some in M & S - it said "sweet and juicy" on the pack and they were neither - so I took them back and had a refund |

remember kaleidoscopes too - used to spend hours shaking them for different patterns and saying "Mum, look at this one" or "Dad, what d'you think of this one" until they were fed up to the back teeth with it all!! |

Dont forget the tin of Bluebird/Sharpes sweets,,,,with a picture on the lid that was at the bottom of the pillowcase.with the nuts and a tangerine. |

we also used to always have a Tunis cake - it was a madeira cake with a thick layer of chocolate on the top decorated with marzipan fruits |

Those chocolate mints were Clarnico weren't they? Ypu could get them without chocolate on them as well. |
