I missed your OP Sharron but I am sure I would have been in full agreement with you <3 <3

There must be any number of people who have the same reason to be thankful as you. Why shouldn't you give an opinion different from the world seen through rose coloured glasses?

The day is far too commercialised as it is. A hand made card or one chosen with care is worth far more than a 'duty' purchased expensive bunch of flowers.

The 'in yer face' advertising campaign must be upsetting for people who wanted but can't have children, or those still grieving for the loss of their own.

We aren't all carbon copies and have different emotions attached to any event. <3

I've had the most wonderful mothers day
spent it at Whitby with Stray the little man
Lisa my granddaughter and GT grandson Tyler

and as for my own mum
She died when I was young
So I don't remember much about her
but what few memories I have are good ones
I think most mums
Do the best to give their children the best childhood they possibly can
I know I did

Sorry for those children who don't have what we have had :-( :-(

Ditto to Joy's post, I couldn't have wished for a more wonderful Mum, she died of the weekend of Mothers day, so every year is a reminder of my loss.

I know not every child's life was as blissful as mine was, that's why I fostered.

I celebrate Mothers day, it's not about gifts, it's about having had a wonderful Mum, and also hoping I've been half as good as she was. :-D

Waitrose knocked 30% off their golden chickens for Mother's Day.
Excellent.

Island Report 30 Mar 2014 19:41

No-one is trying to make anyone feel guilty about having nice mums Stray, far from it.

It's about 'mothers' who make their children feel guilty for existing.
As unpalable as it is, not all mothers are wonderful.

Mersey

Mersey Report 30 Mar 2014 19:41

I am not a Mum, I longed to be but unfortunately I can't have children, I dreamed of following in my Mums footsteps as to the way she brought my sisters and I up....I yearned to be called Mummy but it does not make me sad or angry I reflect and try to see the positive out of it all.....My Mum is more to me than I can say, and I literally cannot find the words I have for her......She stood by me through all the very best times and the really not so good times and she still does I am one of the lucky ones....

Everyone has a different story and all should be told and heard <3 <3

Island

Island Report 30 Mar 2014 19:44

I think you'd be angry if your mother had treated you like cr@p Mersey.

Mersey

Mersey Report 30 Mar 2014 19:46

Im actually saying that all the stories of their mothers or family should be heard
that includes the bad.........!!!!! Im not saying anything different

Im agreeing !!!!! Sharron should be allowed to tell her story! :-S

Island

Island Report 30 Mar 2014 19:51

I think the point of the thread is getting lost?

What a pity someone was thoughtless enough to report it.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 30 Mar 2014 19:52

agrees with Mersey
all the stories should be told

well said Mersey :-D :-D :-D

I didn't see the Opening post either, so have only answered about my experience of having a wonderful mother, and of being a mother.

Seeing as it's Mothers day. I'd assume if your mother wasn't what you expected or wanted you'd ignore the fact it was mothers day, like I ignore it being day's like St David's day, as I'm not Welsh, or any other day that I don't celebrate.

Mothers day is a little bit more poignant to me this year, as an in law of sorts possibly won't have her daughter next year, as she has a terminal illness.

Mothers day, is an emotional time in there house today :-(

There was a very interesting thread called 'Narcissistic Mothers' which covers, in great detail, how bad mothering can affect the child.

Island

Island Report 30 Mar 2014 20:10

Sadly, Sharrons story has not been allowed to be told - thanks to some @rsey fool!!! :-P :-P

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 30 Mar 2014 20:11

I disagree, Island. Sharron's story has often been told on here.

Island

I'm talking about the OP BC, how can anyone comment appropriately if they don't know what the thread is about?

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 30 Mar 2014 20:25

I am sure Sharon will understand that
because most of us haven't seen her OP

we are doing our best to keep the thread going :-D :-D :-D
