Lets hope the families are finding some comfort that so many countries are behind them in this tremendous task and they arent facing any recovery and answers, if possible, alone

So we have learned a thing or two.

1. Chinese satellite scanning technology is very poor ... or they are releasing grainy images to make Uncle Sam think it is poor.

2.The USA - which can read number plates from earth satellites and has world wide coverage - has released no satellite photos at all.

3. Malaysia is a country where truth and politics are far apart.

4. US civil aviation authorities have not issued any new warnings or restrictions related to the 777 or its engines. The advisory which was issued covered equipment not fitted to Malaysian Boeings.

5. Immarsat is a UK telecommunications company which has close business links with both US & UK national security. It charges eye watering fees for its mobile phones which will work anywhere.

6. 20 technicians on board worked for Freescale Semiconductor, a company which makes complex integrated circuits with mainly defense applications including "cloaking".

7. The UK Indian Ocean territories include the islands of Diego Garcia located near the Maldives. DG is leased to the US Govt who maintain an outsize defense base there. Overflying and approach by sea are prohibited.

8. The US has been successful in locating shipwrecks beneath 3 miles of water sunk during the Battle of Midway in 1942.

9. In the case of two other notable air crashes over the deep sea ( Air France / Airbus, Air India / Boeing ) wreckage was located within 10 days.

None of the above may be related.

If you look really hard for something and it is not found then a possible reason is that it is not there. Any illusionist will tell you that the key to his act is drawing yr attention away from the real action.

How hard is hard ?

Looks like they may have found wreckage in the southern ocean.

If I read it correctly, relatives have now been told that beyond reasonable doubt, the aircraft crashed into the Indian ocean with no survivors. Rest in Peace all those poor people.

They were told by text message!

My understanding is that the announcement was made based on logic rather than actual hard evidence.

Watching the scenes of the families' reaction on tv news I was moved to tears for them all.

And what a callous way to inform them about their loved ones, but feel they won't be convinced until they see evidence for themselves.

Precisely my point!

If and when they find the flight recorders they will make for some very interesting listening. Apparently Malaysian sat on the Immarsat report for three days.

Another Air Malaysia 777 bound from Kuala Lumpur made an emergency landing Sunday in S Korea - failed generator.

As Errol says there is still no hard evidence.
When using tracking devices it is always worth remembering that it is the device which is being tracked, it may or may not be attached to the object of the tracking. That was a major point in the recent BBC thriller "In the Line of Duty".

Assuming then that MH370 is about 3 miles deep in the Indian Ocean then the questions as to the who and how and why and when will be razor sharp.

If they ever do find out what happened......... I doubt we'll be told.

I think the lawyers will make sure we are told.

Even if nothing is ever found there will be changes to rules as a result of this incident.

the problem with informing the relatives - so many of them - if you started phoning them, before you got very far word wuld have got out and then those who had not received a phone call would have found out by other means cos it would have gone viral - very tricky - suppose what they should have done with hindsight was send a text asking them to phone in, but even then I don't think that would have worked

why no news anymore,these people are still missing,i can understand why there families are starting to shout.

there isn't anything "new" to report............only speculation.......

At least they have now started to deploy the pinger detectors in the most likely area. Pity the pinger will be running out of power in the next few days. I hope it is working.

Nevertheless, it will still be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
