Not long now - is it?

I presume Dermot means the referendum on 18 Sep?

I keep looking for reasons to say "Yes" but I can't find any!

I'd love to see a great turn-out of voters on this exceptional occasion. But I would be disappointed if there is a narrow win either way.

I find it really hard to separate facts from scare-mongering

This week's TV documentary claimed to be impartial, and focused on the impact that independence would have on the rest of the UK, and in particular nuclear war heads currently based at Faslane.
An independant Scotland, insist they will be removed.... Pronto!
So, where doesTrident go?
It seems that Mr Cameron does not have an alternative, or at least, not one that he will discuss
If the only other option is to scrap Trident altogether, that would definitely cause ructions with the "Besties", on the other side of the Atlantic.

Lastly, If Scotland gets independence, the rest of the UK will require a completely new flag!

My head hurts!

What I have some difficulty getting my head round is the fact that this referendum has been known about for several years and politicians at Westminster have made little or no comment on it until fairly recently, now they are running round the country like headless chickens promising, if voters say "NO" to independence, that they will devolve more powers to th Scottish Parliament.

My question is, why did they wait till the last few months, to promise this and if they already had this on their agenda, why have they not already devolved these powers, blackmail comes to mind, vote "NO" or no more powers - smoke & mirrors maybe ;-)

I saw a clip (can't remember where) about the vote, a person talking was a "Scottish" (with a posh English accent) landowner... in the highlands.

He was hoping for a No vote, because he believed his land would go back to the Government. Not sure what that entails.

That would make some of my ancestors, who were forced off the land to make way for sheep, happy........ but, if they had stayed there, I wouldn't be here. :-S

The problem is that so many question have not yet been asked and so many of the questions that have been asked have not been answered satisfactorily.
Living in England - although born and brought up in Scotland - I don't have a vote but if I did I honestly don't know which way I would vote
Alistair Darling is leading the NO vote but then he would, he was born in England!!

I can only think of one candidate, who could be a bigger liability than Alistair Darling as leader of the "NO Campaign" that person is Gordon Brown.

When I lived in Edinburgh's New Town, Alastair Darling lived round the corner from me, after he was elected a councillor, I always considered him to be a bit devious and a crafty fox, personally I would not trust him as far as I could throw him - he was never of the same calibre as the previous Labour MP for Edinburgh Central - my old friend Tom Oswald.

Experienced politicians are good at answering questions without actually answering them - if that makes sense & can even proceed further by answering another question not yet raised.

Dermot - you are spending to much time watching the Parliament Channel, especially Prime Minister's Questions - The Comedians were one of my favourite programmes :-D

There is a question that I have been asking myself ...........

If Scotland was already an Independent Country, would I vote in favour of a Union?????

Is Jessica Mauboy a well known singer in OZ?
I had never heard of her before but bizarrely I have now seen her on live on stage twice since May.
As you probably know, she sang at the Closing Ceremony, but she was also the Australian guest at the second semi final of the Eurovision song contest that we went to.... in Copengagen!

It was even the same song and routine.

In four years time we'll be getting ready for a siege. The Gold Coast isn't far from us (about 30 minutes drive). It's a popular tourist area, so the crowds will be massive. Maybe we could rent out a spare room lol
