Robert Report 6 Jul 2013 16:22

We have a thread for the Aussies and one for people living in Wales.

Why don't we have a Thread for Scottish people anywhere in the World?

Dermot

Dermot Report 6 Jul 2013 16:32

I don't know how this thread will be used once Scotland has enjoyed true independence.

And what will happen to the Duke of Edinburgh's title at that time?

I love to hear a good Bagpipe player doing his stuff anywhere in the UK.

Nolls from Harrogate

Nolls from Harrogate Report 6 Jul 2013 19:22

Ah me I've killed the thread me thinks :-(
Let me say Edinburgh the land of my birth and by gum I'm proud of it ...but don't live there any more! But I live in Harrogate and a lot of the town was designed by the same architect as Edinburgh (for the life of me it's on the tip of my tongue ) so lots of buildings / street names all the same so feels a bit like home ...Got it Robert Adam :-D

Robert Report 7 Jul 2013 16:31

Come on all you fellow Scots!!!

You are not usually as backward at coming forward.

Thanks for the comments anyway - even from the non Scots.

Dermot - Scotland will never get independence because there are too many nonScots in Scotland and too many Scots living outside Scotland (and we don't get a vote.)

I'm Scottish born, but now live in Oz.

There's an "Aussies & friends" thread.......... lots of non-Aussies post there, so friends of Scots could post here too.... if we use the English language they'll understand us lol

Terrible Scottish joke..........................

One of my gggggg uncles emigrated to North America & married a local woman.........they had a son & named him Hawkeye Thenoo.

Graham Report 7 Jul 2013 16:46

This thread is bound to be a runaway success because it was started by somebody called Robert. Just think, out of all the successful people that Scotland has had called Robert. Robbie Burns, Robert the Bruce, Robert Stevenson, Robert Louis Stevenson. Anymore? :-D

LadyScozz Report 7 Jul 2013 16:55

The Monty Python guys will have to get together and remake the Wimbledon skit!

You'll find it here:

:-D

PH - I've been eating porridge this winter. I feel a wee bit guilty, because I put honey on it...... as a child, when I ate breakfast with my grandfather, I would put salt on it, just like he did. I loved my papa, and wanted to do things the same as he did! He also put dry oatmeal on his potatoes, so did I , and choked my way through them. :-D

I was born in Fife and now live in Kent but will always look on Scotland as my home - just wish I was in Dunblane today when Andy Murray made history today by winning the men's finals at Wimbledon, Dunblane and Scotland have a son to be proud of - Well Done Andy and I am sure Hayley Empress of Drama loves you really :-D

GlasgowLass

GlasgowLass Report 7 Jul 2013 18:03

I'm a Scot... born, bred and still living in Lanarkshire.

Many congratulations to Andy Murray.
The first Brit in 77 yrs to win Wimbledon and he's... from Dunblane.

Odd info on Dunblane.....

It is.... in Perthshire
Has a Falkirk post code (FK rather than PH)
And it...comes under the jurisdiction of... Stirlingshire District Council

EDIT:
Just read GG's post and it reminded me of a rellie's baptism on an OPR in Stirling
The child's first names are written as " Mary Broon"
I laughed so hard that I had tears.

Here's a challenge to anyone not Scottish ~

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Khrpy4V0-U4

It's Star Trek, the Scottish version :-D

:-D

GlasgowLass - the new Shire boundaries in Scotland are so confusing for those of us who don't live there. You give one example........ sometimes trying to search on Scotland's People is a nightmare! I think it's funny that Glasgow airport is in Renfrewshire! (it was when I was last in Scotland, maybe the boundaries have changed........ again!)

PS - I was born in Lanarkshire..... like most of my generation, at Bellshill hospital :-D
