well I recall the event as if it were yesterday - he was due on Thursday and on Thursday morning things began to happen - up to the maternity unit in the evening, in labour all through the night, all through the next day until midday on the Saturday, when with the assistance of a very unpleasant Greek doctor with some cutters and forceps, actually gave birth - said at the time - I'm never going through that again - my mother said "You'll soon forget" but no way - my son is 46 this July and I shall never forget

Errol I never thought of that - all creatures great and small - vets had gloves to their armpits! ooooooooooooooooooooooh.

Am I the only one who was a dying duck? In bed for 6 weeks before birth so weak to start - luckily only lasted 9 hours - stitches. Second is supposed to be easier - wrong - 3 weeks early - waters broke week before so dry birth - lasted 27 hours. No stitches.

Gas & air I think - definitely a bit of ether when first one got stuck!

Can't remember the actual length of time but something like 5/6 hours, no pethadine, no gas, no epidural, a bit of bearable pain and no stitches. That was with the second one. No stitches with the first either 6 years before that but did have pethadine and a short whiff of gas forced on me, refused any more after that and about the same length of time.

I am posting this in order to see if the member who knows everything about anything will contribute.

I thought so too Andysmum - the last remark was a tongue in cheek one but anything is possible.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 8 Jun 2013 16:54

Well I for one see absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Looks like I was the only person who actually saw the OP. I thought it might develop into an interesting discussion and didn't deserve to be RR'd.

eRRolSheep Report 8 Jun 2013 16:50

ChrisofWessex I don't know what you could have said but I imagine it certainly did not merit an RR !
