Hi Uzzi, so glad you can still show a sense of humour with all this toing and froing and dust and such. If your Mother doesn't understand that you are doing the best you can for her then it's tough, you will have to fix up a hotline so we can all tell her lol

I know you are going to have days and nights when you want to scream or throw something, but try to count to ten and think of the hot tub and wine when she really p***es you off. Hopefully all the hired help etc will work out well and give you breathing space, and you will manage to get out and about to a cafe or wine bar with the wheelchair so your Mother gets a change of scene and faces and you get the chance to meet new people and have a chat too.

Have been thinking about you and hope the final move will work out ok, no hassles and Mother is content with the house and her room.

Latest update ......and mother still isn´t here and I am debating putting her off.

We were supposed to be picking Mum´s "stuff" up tomorrow so I can spend the day and a half getting her things around the room, so the move won´t be so hard on her. Can´t have the brain slipping again.
We discovered on last Sunday that not only does OH not have Sunday off but his boss has taken off for a weeks holiday. ..We could cope with him working Sunday night. BUT Mum´s "stuff" is in her lock up.
Finally today she has got back in touch to calls and texts ....The bl**dy keys to the lock up are with her in Benidorm and she won´t be back until late Saturday night.

I just want to cry in my wine and probably would if it didn´t water the wine down too much.
I am tempted to leave her for a few days but from the 1st July they go into summer rota at work which means OH will be working 6days a week. and it is manic. To ask him to move clobber and fetch Mum all in 1 week is not fair, so Mum will have to move with non of the things around her that she knows, Hubby says all Mum wants is me anyway and with-in the week she will have fun unwrapping all her goodies. plus the builders haven´t finished so she can chat to them :-S

Well if I am not going to dilute my wine I guess I should go and join JLH alcohol addicts thread. >>>>> :-D hic upps :-0 :-P

Thanks Ann ...tomorrow is the life changing day, I have spent today running around getting final bits for her room, *waste bucket, wash bin, mops etc and a rug and some pretty things to cheer the room up until I can collect her "stuff".
I went to the farmacia for her meds only to be told 2 of them are prescription only so I can only hope to convince the care home to let me buy beg or borrow some as it will be a few days before I can get her registered up the medical center. Unfortunately 1 of them is her main dementia&relaxant med.

I am beginning to get a little panicky now and wondering what I have missed out, and how the 1st few days will work out. :-S Mind I have also bought a new frame for my Dads photo (Mini chewed the last one and it fell apart) so after a year, I final have Dads photo back up looking over me <3

The first few days will be an absolute nightmare, believe me! Take each thing at a time and walk away if you find things getting difficult.

I have two states of mind,, I'm Mums carer and then I am her daughter. When I am in carer mode I cope better than in Daughter mode. no idea why.

Please, one thing I read earlier- You mum and learning new boundaries. She wont! At least I very much doubt she will. If she chucks a cup, please don't chuck one back - all that will achieve is twice as many broken cups! :-D

be prepared to be frustrated! It seems to come with the territory. My best one in the last few days was understanding how my mum cant write her name in a birthday card for love nor money
but perfectly clearly in Sh1t on the bathroom tiles........

Ouch Penny I´m not sure how I would /will react if Mum plays the writing game with me. If she throws a cup that will be fine she will just be on plastics after that, I can´t afford splinters on tiled floors, I walk barefoot and my dogs also do !!!
I expect to be frustrated but I don´t think I can imagine how much. I think I am preparing for the worst with a hope things can´t be that bad ...then you mentioned writing. :-0 NO WAY have I prepared for anything like that :-S

Oh boy I´m off to the spa with a very large wine >>>>>>>> ;-)

Expect the worst and prepare for it, it can only get better then.

You have no idea how frustrated you'll get, As soon as you think you have something sussed it will all change!

Best of luck, Uzzi, of course there will be things you have overlooked or forgotten but you will get there and at first it will be new and challenging for your Mum as well, she will deal with it all in whatever way occurs to her at the time, crying or shouting or throwing things or rebelling, you will get it all I expect, she will be like a small child but I am sure it will settle down and you will rub along ok. You will always have the tub and the wine to look forward to at the end of a difficult day and you have us lot to listen to any gripes or funnies so let it all out when you need to.

Have been thinking about you - had an eventful day yesterday myself, with o.h. He acts more like a child than anyone could imagine, but at least his sister and b.i.l. saw it as we had gone round to theirs for dinner and to meet their new puppy, a miniature Schnauzer of 8 weeks.

Hope things went ok yesterday Uzzi and you can start getting some kind of routine in place, once your Mother settles down and has her full medication etc
