Perhaps the beheading was in the initial he said/she said reports and has now been dropped?

Who ever the murderers are and for what ever reason they did it, the Police and other Agencies are escalating their reaction to a much higher level than say for 'gang' violence. One thing that initially seems 'odd' is that the perpetrators where shot by the Police. Normally they have to have a chain of command or existing 'intelligence' to even contemplate that.

I think we will learn more tomorrow after the second COBRA meeting. Officer Commanding (DC) is flying back from Paris tonight, and short emergency COBRA meeting has just ended and they have clamped down on ALL Army barracks round London.

But tomorrow's meeting will probably result in a statement that will clarify exactly what happened. And, more importantly, why and were they part of a group with any sort of link to Al Q'aeda. And were they both British nationals.

No Errol it only matters that his family get to hear the facts first.

It would appear 'likely' that 'eye witness' reports were posted on Twitter even before the victim was identified... imagine being told by your neighbour 'hey have you seen, just shown on Twitter some soldier has been killed in Woolwich'...that's what I'm trying to convey, the family of the victim don't need speculation.

Det, The police can open fire if they think their life or the life of one else is in immediate danger in those circumstances they don't need permission

Sorry - don't 'do' youtube, but take your word for it. It's just that to the best of my limited knowledge, the majority of your bog standard rapid response police vehicles or Panda cars don't carry firearms.

No use speculating - we'll find out the 'official' version of events in due course

Channel 5 just shown video of one attacker with a meat cleaver and knife with hands covered in blood......

WRONG, WRONG WRONG.

Wrong for the family and wrong to give this lunatic media exposure.

You would be surprised at just how many Armed police their are in and around London, Once they new the men where armed other officers would be held back to cordon off the area whilst the armed response went in

well what a surprise - I've been out for the evening and find I've been reported :-S

There was nothing gory in what I put - just took the report from the web - no horrific details whatsoever

This was an undisputed act of terrorism. I can not find the words to express my sorrow and sadness for what has happened. God bless the innocent victim and give comfort to his loved ones. RIP

Not undisputed in the slightest...

"Prime Minister David Cameron said there were "strong indications that it is a terrorist incident""

Therefore not confirmed.

If its about the mass murderer who killed upto 400 people with a machete, hes been granted asylum and living a couple of miles from me in Coventry. Lucky, lucky us.
