Mick and Mairead Philpott have been found guilty of the deaths of their six children

What a sad day because no punishment can ever bring those children back. I just hope when sentences are passed they're sufficiently harsh.

Problem is life does not mean life these days, if I was would the judge it would be 25 years for each child and not to run together.

Charged with manslaughter. Highly unlikely they would get a conviction for murder.

Convicted by a majority of manslaughter, to be sentenced Wednesday. that is all 3 of them.

well they won't get as much for manslaughter as for murder - pity they can't have a sentence for each child - then they'd never walk free again

Although they were arrested on suspicion of murder, I was relieved when I read they were being charged with manslaughter, they would have more than likely walked free otherwise.

I have no doubt they will get some grief from other inmates now they've been convicted. Just hope they don't get put on Section 43 where they will be protected.

I'm still of the opinion that Mrs Philpott shouldnt have survived,,,,,,,,

horrific,,,I hope the nightmares just get worse over the years locked away till it sends the gulity crazy.

At last....felt something was iffy right from the start with those two...won't bring the poor children back of course....bless them. x

I'm sensing rough times ahead in jail for all of them - oh dear

In England and Wales manslaughter has a "discretionary" life sentence, as opposed to the mandatory one for murder. This means the judge's discretion is used.


Lets hope the judge is in a bad mood else they could be out in 3 years! and as for bad time in prison ....they have rights in there to and if anyone should mis treat them they are guarded on a one to one basis!!! at tax payers exspence!!!

Neither seemed contrite or truly upset, he is a controlling vicious individual and she seems to be lacking any emotion at all.

I hope that their sentences are the maximum allowable against the manslaughter charge and they get their true punishment in prison via other inmates.

They lied to save their own necks about plotting to frame another for the fire, listening to the recordings of conversations between the two of them after the tragedy it was plain to me that the only regret they experienced was their arrests.

I sincerely hope they never get released and the rest of his children and family receive compassion from the community and can rebuild their lives.

well even if and when they are released from prison - if ever - they will have to be watching their backs for the rest of their lives

for manslaughter the discretionary tariff of life can mean anything.
In theory the judge could award anything from an unconditional discharge up to a life sentence which carries a MINIMUM tariff
