There is no snow in the Newcastle area as yet but there is a biting cold wind.

Janet Report 22 Mar 2013 11:09

I woke up to lots of snow, sent a text to my friend to say I wouldn't risk the five mile journey to the other side of town as planned. Decided I would have a housework day, hence the snow as I don't do housework. Then the door bell went at 0915. Very unusual as I don't do early mornings.......

It was my eighty year old neighbour who was going to Portugal today and had to catch a train to get to Gatwick. He had had a call from his taxi firm to say none of their staff had turned in for work, could I possibly run him to the station. Well what can you say?

Suffice to say I did get him to the station and then struggled to get my car back into my drive on the return. I tried to drive in but because of the angle, the deep snow and the rise over the pavement it would have been too close to the neighbours car to risk trying. I then thought about leaving it in my neighbour's drive so went forward but that didn't work. From that position I then reversed my car into the drive and stopped two inches short of the corner of my house which would have redesigned the rear valance......but didn't. Fortunately I have never been stuck in snow in the nearly fifty years of driving but nowadays I prefer not to even try. I think I will suggest to my neighbour that he only goes away in Summer in future ..........................-jl

Brenda from Wales - some versions of Windows have speech recognition built in. Many think it is just for dictating letters but it can actually be used to control the computer. PM me if you want more infornation about that and other things that can be done to make a computer more accessible for the visually impaired.

Paula - judging by the amount of snow we have had overnight and the amount predicted for today I may need to hang on to all the wool I have. However, your wool order is at the top of the dispatch list for when supplies are plentiful.

Brenda from Wales - Margaretfinch uses a voice reader programme. If you can find one of her threads, you could send her a message assuming she is still around. Come to think of it, I haven't spotted her for a few months!
