Whoa, hold on! the 60's were somewhat more enlightened than you portray John. I sat the IBM exams along with all the male applications for their computer programming vacancies! Whilst I was head of D & S at Sperry Univac. |

I think one area where Welsh scores is in different names for sheep. My father in law used to be a farm valuer and knew so much about sheep. |

Only good jobs for women was teaching, John. In 1973 at the age of 20 I was managing a office for a large adult education organisation. I was doing payroll and supervising 2 other staff members as well as ordering supplies. Might not be up to your standard but I was doing pretty well.....for a woman. |

John in the 1960s my sister a high grader was on a voyage to greater things work wise and it wasnt teaching,!so dont know where you think there were no high jobs for women,,,,,ok no equal status and pay but still a high postion job,,,,,, |

If there is one conclusion I would draw, it is that there has been NO competition between England and Wales to see which is best country to live in and which is best language. We have just given our personal opinions. |

Ann My mum married in 1958 and she had to leave the civil serivce they gave her a dowery (SP) though , and you know she had to walk to the next buliding but one to use the loo as there was no ladies loos in the buliding. |
