Hello all
What a heartbreaking event in Nice!! When will it ever end??
Condolences to the family and friends who have lost loved ones so suddenly.
Heavenly Father
We pray for those who have been devastated by the Nice tragedy. We think of all who have lost their lives in such a frightening way. We uphold the families whose lives are now changed forever by loss, grief and heartache. Surround them with our prayers and and bring them comfort and consolation. Bless those who have survived and give them the strength to cope with trauma, and strengthen their body, mind and spirit.Give them courage for the days ahead. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Good morning...... :-)
We conclude our week of looking at items around our churches with a prayer .....
We pray for all our churches....those churches which are special to us.....our parish churches.......the churches we visit on holidays.....
Lord Jesus Christ, make these buildings a temple of your presence and houses of prayer.. Be always near us when we seek you in these places.
Draw us to you, when we come alone and when we come with others, to find comfort and wisdom, to be supported and strengthened, to rejoice and give thanks. May it be in these places Lord Christ, that we are made one with you and with one another. Amen.
Remembering the atrocities in Nice................... Cx :-)

Hello all
We are living in very troubled times and seem to go from one worrying event on to another. The tragedies in Nice and the Coup and chaos in Turkey are examples.
The power of prayer has been proven to work, time and time again. We are blessed.
"We can reach our world if we will it. The greatest lack today is not people or funds. The greatest need is prayer." (Wesley L. Duewel).
Thoughts and prayers for all who are caught up in world wide tragedies. xxx

Good morning :-)
Troubled times indeed kandj and the Collect for today is apt :-(
The Collect (special prayer)
Almighty Lord and everlasting God, we beseech you to direct, sanctify and govern us in the ways of your laws and the works of your commandments; that through your most mighty protection, both here and ever, we may be preserved in body and soul; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The Gospel for today tells the story of Jesus visiting Mary and Martha in their home. The question which tends to be asked........Are you a Mary or a Martha?
MARY Listener Thinker Quiet Attentive Sensitive Loyal
MARTHA Doer Hospitable Worker Demanding Worrier Angry Distracted
Something to ponder on........ Cx :-)

Nothing has altered but the world looks very different on a sunny day like today.
Am I a Mary or a Martha?....... reading through the list, I am a bit of both (I think).
Thank you Lord for all your blessings today. For the sun and warmth For family and friends For a happy home and For food on the table. I am truly blessed. Thank you Lord.

Good morning :-)
I think I am a bit of both Mary and Martha too.......I know I need to improve on some of the more negative aspects though.
As we begin the holiday season……..we remember those who, for whatever reason, are not able to go away.
Lord, the holiday season can be very difficult, especially those that are alone at this time - perhaps having lost a loved one through death, maybe have ill health or have financial restrictions.
Be near to those who will be alone and lonely over this holiday time - may they discover a closeness in their relationship with You that perhaps they did not enjoy before.
May they be able to find some rest and relaxation on sunny days and be blessed with good friends to cheer them. Amen
Off to prepare for what is supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far - I can only cope with so much heat, especially whilst ironing...... :-D

Hello all
I'll pass on the ironing today Cynthia.... do you want to do mine too?
Amen, to your payer.
Our Granddaughter in Durham has broken up from school for Summer holidays. Our village school children don't end term until Friday.
Thank you Heavenly Father for all teachers, who spend their working day with our children. We bless them for their guidance and skills to educate all children. Amen

Good morning :-)
I'm one of that strange breed of people who actually enjoys ironing - so mine is all done and put away.... :-D
Goodness me! Summer has arrived..........please take care in the heat.
Lord God, We put ourselves into Your hands, and pray that You will bless all families during the wonderful months of summer.
May we all help make our homes places of relaxation, joy, love, peace and safety. May we be generous and considerate, not thinking only about ourselves, but helping others enjoy the blessings of summertime.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
Love Cx :-)

I some times wonder if Jesus and his disciples and the prophets before them had biographers since we read their literal words and deeds at often crucial times.

Hello all
Amen to your prayer Cynthia. Nice to have you join in here David.
Pheww, another scorching day and we are both wilting here. We had open doors and windows yesterday until flying ants came to visit us..... they are NOT welcome!
It's going to be a bright sunshiny day, with thunder storms forecast for tomorrow.
Keep cool if you can and enjoy today. xxx

Good morning :-)
Welcome back David.......there are lots of ancient scriptures where Jesus is mentioned and I remember that those written by Josephus are considered to be important.
For today:
Many schools have now come to the end of their Summer term and are breaking up for the holidays. We pray for them and for the members of staff who will be looking forward to well deserved rest....
Take time to claim your strength; this is a gift from God. Take time to have fun; it is God’s way of teaching you your strengths. Take time to grow yourself; only you can grow you. Take time to trust yourself; God trusts you. Take time to be self-reliant; it is better than being dependent. Take time to share with others; they will bless you and you will bless them. Take time to have hope; you are a child of God.
Cx :-)

Good morning :-)
I have sung that song many times David.......a very cheering one.
Kandj - I only once had maggots and that was enough. Since then, I make sure that all tins and bottles are washed out and I spray fly spray into each waste disposal bag before putting it in the bin. Hopefully, that will kill any egg or whatever. So far ......... so good. Can't abide those wriggly white things.......urrrghhh.
Onto more cheerful things.......
Lord, we pray for all those going on holiday soon and thank you for the relaxation which holidays bring to us.
For the excitement of anticipation and planning; for the freedom from routine, and for new experiences and opportunities.
You have given us a world with so much variety that wherever we go we are surrounded by things which are different and bring new experiences.
Help us to use our holidays to see your creation. Help us to use our freedom to understand more clearly the fullness of life you are constantly offering us.
Accept our thanks for the rich variety of life which is your gift and when our holidays are over, help us to return to our homes safely with a new vision of your will for us. Amen.

Hello all
Our niece cleared away after our chicken dinner.... I know that caused the maggots and I will be clearing dinner away myself in future. Dustbin emptied, all washed out and disinfected again now.
David, I have been racking my brains to think of the TV series with the I am H.A.P.P.Y tune and I remember it was the comedy Only When I Laugh with James Bolam and Peter Bowles as patients in a hospital ward. It was funny.

Regarding prayer, did you know each session of parliament commences with a prayer.
Concerning the how to, I'm sure we each have our individual way of doing so.
One very rigorous religion pray in mosques several times a day. They leave their shoes at the entrance and pray on their hands and knees sometimes head touching the ground.
Years ago I was walking along the quayside of the River Tyne admiring the tall ships. One ships entire crew were on deck on their hands and knees facing east in prayer. I found that quite moving.

David has set me thinking that soon, we could look at the work of Chaplains in our modern armed forces and how much prayer comes into things. :-)
A Summer Blessing
May you walk with God this summer in whatever you do and wherever you go. May you talk to God this summer and every day and in every situation. May you talk with God every day.
Hoping you all have a lovely day. Cx :-)

An enigma how 2 opposing armies professing to be Christian can make a carnage of a battle field.
The fourth book of Moses is called Numbers wherein it details the numbers of men available for war aged between the ages of 18 and 60 The men being the men comprising the 12 tribes of Israel The same Moses was given the 10 commandments which include thou shalt not kill. Strange.
