Good morning.. :-)

Some thoughts for today:

FEARS

I feared being alone ....... Until I learned to like myself.

I feared people's opinions ....... Until I learned that people would have opinions about me anyway.

I feared failure ......Until I realized that they are only the stepping stones to success.

I feared rejection ..... Until I learned to have faith in myself.

I feared pain ..... Until I learned that it is necessary for growth.

I feared the truth ..... Until I saw the ugliness in lies.

I feared life ..... Until I experienced that it depends solely on my attitude.

I feared death .... Until I realized that it is only a beginning.

I feared hate ..... Until I saw that it was nothing more than ignorance.

I feared love ... Until I realized that I do need the other person to love me back.

I feared ridicule ... Until I learned how to laugh at myself.

I feared success .... Until I learned that it is okay to be the best I can.

I feared the dark ... Until I saw the beauty of the stars and moonlight.

I feared light ... Until I learned that the truth would give me strength.

I feared growing old ... Until I realized that I gained the beauty of wisdom every day.

I feared the past ... Until I realized that it can only hurt me if I allow it to.

I feared the future ... Until I realized that it is only this moment that matters.

I feared change ... Until I saw that even the most beautiful butterfly had to undergo a metamorphosis before it could fly.

Good morning :-)

I hope everyone is well. Part one of my drain repair works begins on Tuesday - thanks to our insurance company. Hopefully, I will soon be able to ask for the work on our downstairs bathroom to begin. (Just thought you may like to know that) :-D

Some blessings from our Celtic friends.......

"May God grant you many years to live,
For sure he must be knowing,
The earth has angels all too few,
And heaven is overflowing"

"May your troubles be less,
And your blessing be more.
And nothing but happiness,
Come through your door."

"Whenever there is happiness
Hope you'll be there too,
Wherever there are friendly smiles
Hope they'll smile on you,
Whenever there is sunshine,
Hope it shine especially for you to make each day
for you as bright as it can be."

"These things, I warmly wish for you-
Someone to love, some work to do,
A bit of o' sun, a bit o' cheer.
And a guardian angel always near."

"He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses more;
He who loses faith, loses all."

"May the friendships you make,
Be those which endure,
And all of your grey clouds
Be small ones for sure.
And trusting in Him
To Whom we all pray,
May a song fill your heart,
Every step of the way."

"May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door,
And happiness be with you now,
And bless you evermore."

"May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow.
May the soft winds freshen your spirit.
May the sunshine brighten your heart
May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you.
And may God enfold you in the mantle of His love."

Love to all....Cx :-)

Hope all goes well with the drain work on Tuesday Cynthia so that you can think about having the downstairs bathroom that will make life easier for your husband and for you too.

Your postings today reminded me of the Celtic prayer which a vicar always used as a blessing at the end of every Sunday morning service very many years ago.

My the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again
may God hold you in the palm of His hand

Good morning :-)

My drain repair has been moved forward to Monday now - even better. I even dreamt about them last night.....dear oh dear..... :-)

I am also arranging to have our gas/electricity meters moved outside - where they are means I have to clamber up on a stool to read one and grovel under the stairs for the other. Seems there's no stopping me once I get going......... :-)

Our prayer today is for loneliness - something anyone can suffer from, even in the midst of a crowd.....

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help me to feel your presence.

My heart aches and I feel so alone.

I miss a human touch, someone to take my hand or give me a hug.

I long for someone to tell me everything will be alright.

Please send your Comforter to me and take this loneliness away.

Help me instead of feeling empty, to feel full of the love you have for me.

Help me to know in my heart and remember that according to your Word; I am never alone because you are with me.

Your love and peace is with me, right now, in this moment. I feel it and I am not alone.

Amen

Seems like you are "on a mission" of a practical type Cynthia. One job does indeed lead to another, so Good Luck with your drains and with your other improvements.

All I can say to your prayer today is AMEN and remind others who are facing challenging times that they are all in my thoughts and prayers.

A very wet blustery morning here in Yorkshire. Yesterday, we were meant to have a builder to relay a crumbled broken path but his car wouldn't start and so that didn't happen. He did offer to borrow a mates van for today, but I had seen the heavy rain weather forecast and we have rearranged this work to be done on Monday...... fingers crossed for a dry day then, before I fall over on the uneven path.... ?!!

Good morning :-)

I hope you get your path sorted out soon kandj.........it reminded me of keeping on the 'straight and narrow path'. :-D

The collect for today:

The Collect

O Lord, we beseech you mercifully to hear the prayers
of your people who call upon you;
and grant that they may both perceive and know
what things they ought to do,
and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil them;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

I was hoping my husband may come to church with me this morning but it isn't looking too likely at the moment....one can but try.

Love to all.....Cx :-)

"What a world," the president of the UN Security Council said late last night as the world reacted with horror and condemnation to the brutal murder of British aid worker Alan Henning. (Comment copied from the Net).

What can we mere citizens of the UK do today other than pray for his family in the midst of their unimaginable distress.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 6 Oct 2014 07:53

Good morning.. :-)

Dermot, there is no easy answer to your question, however, I find the following prayer helpful :

God, you are just.

You are perfect in all your judgments.

You balance every scale.

In time, all the accounts will be settled.

All truth will be told.

All debts will be evenly scored.

For now, in this world, we can push for justice and labour for truth and fair payment, but we must often settle for less.

We pray for those who have suffered a grave injustice, for those who have had something precious taken, broken, destroyed.

We pray for their souls, that the loss, which cannot be replaced, will be filled with a miracle of comfort.

Give the victims of crime the assurance that you stand with them, that you hate injustice even more than they hate it.

Come close to the broken hearted. Console and join them in their anger. Teach them how to be angry without turning bitter.

Show them how to transfer their demand for justice into your hands, in an act of forgiveness, which is not dropping the charges, but trading the responsibility for pressing the charges to your eternal court of heaven.

God, be with those who have stood by as the wicked seem to survive their wickedness. Give them patient hope that in the span of eternity all truth will be told and all scales will be balanced. And as they collapse into your perfect love and wisdom, teach them that sorrow alone is the way into your deepest heart.

May they find you in their sorrow, and find from you what only you can provide… A hope that does not disappoint. In Jesus' name we pray.

Amen.

With love to you all on this wet and wild morning....... Cx :-)

The evil acts and horror it brings is unbelievable. The families of all the hostages need our prayers to come to terms with such barbaric scenes witnessed with their loved ones.

It is a sobering thought God sees everything we do and hears everything we say. He is ready to comfort those who mourn and our hearts go out to those families right now.

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

Good morning :-)

Well, part one of the saga of my drains is almost complete. Yesterday, a lovely young man spent hours in the pouring rain and gusty wind, digging tiles up and replacing some pipework. I kept him plied with cups of hot coffee as he struggle away. He was so polite and friendly despite the appalling conditions bless him. Trouble is, it was too wet for one of the jobs so he is coming back on Thursday.

Something a little different for today - it reminded me of the liturgical colours we use in church :

Together shall we take a journey into the mind?
To explore the colours ... to the emotions we find;
For colours bring energy, warmth and healing,
But first you must accept what you believe in!

BLUE we say brings a healing ray of light;
Close your eyes and feel the warmth that is right.

PINK is for love, gentleness, a feeling of calm;
So enjoy this feeling ... love will not harm.

PURPLE for knowledge ... we all need a little of this;
For learning about life, we can not afford to miss.

GREEN is for peace, new birth, new beginning;
Nature's wonderful colour... you just feel like singing!

RED is for strength, energy and courage within;
This strong colour can only help you to win.

YELLOW and ORANGE are bright to help you shine,
Give you an uplift, leave your worries behind.

WHITE is for pure, to help us keep a clean mind;
To help us stay good and find peace of a kind.

BLACK is the darkness we try not to see;
For believe it or not, evil can touch you and me.

GOLD and SILVER are above all the colours we feel;
These two colours are God's healings to reveal.

Take a look into your inner self;
Take the colour you need;
Each colour's ray of light,
Will give you the help to succeed.

Pleased that all is going to plan for your drains Cynthia despite the awful wet weather, hopefully it will be completed fully for you on Thursday.
Our builder also managed to level and sort the garden path, which I am happy and relieved to have made safe. Last thing we need here is more falls for my husband!

An interesting post today. The colours of the church calender explaining the seasons of the Christian church year and the specific colours used for the vestments and altar cloths are explained fully in Google and worth looking through for folk who have a few minutes to spare.

Sending loving thoughts and prayers for all in need of support and a kind word today.

Good morning :-)

So glad you have had your path sorted kandj, the last thing any of us needs is to go base over apex at our age. :-D

I was brought up in a non-conformist home, so everything was very plain and simple as far as church and worship went.

However, when I became an Anglican, a whole new world was opened up to me in the liturgy and coloured vestments of the C. of E. I am interested in the meaning which lies behind why we use certain colours at certain times and what the various articles of clothing represent. I'm sure some non-church folk think the clergy just like dressing up in coloured robes, but the reality is very different.

Heavenly Father,
since the time of the Apostles
you have inspired the Church
to commission certain members
to assist in a special way
in the pastoral mission of Christ.
Bless the deacons
and all other ordained
and non-ordained ministers
that they may be humble
and faith-inspired in their service.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Our crumbling path was unexpectedly worked on a day earlier and despite raining heavily each day since, the concrete is still in tact and hasn't been washed away thank goodness. Another job that I can now tick off my list before Winter comes.

A very dark day of heavy rain and cloudy here in Yorkshire today with the same forecast for tomorrow. We all need a bit of brightness to be a good tonic for everyone soon.

Try thinking in a positive way that things will be good and hopefully they actually will be, so that it will be a good day for each and everyone of us all tomorrow.

Good morning.. :-)

One of the most well known prayers and an inspiration since the beginning...encouragement and comfort.....all wrapped up together.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Love to all Cx :-)

Such a beautiful traditional hymn Cynthia with the familiar Crimond tune. I also am happy to sing the Stuart Townend Christian version because although the words and meaning are the same, I find the tune makes me think about the words even more.

The Lord's my shepherd, I'll not want;
He makes me lie in pastures green.
He leads me by the still still waters
His goodness restores my soul.

And I will trust in You alone
And I will trust in You alone
For Your endless mercy follows me
Your goodness will lead me home.

He guides my ways in righteousness,
And He anoints my head with oil
And my cup it overflows with joy
I feast on His pure delights.

And though I walk the darkest path,
I will not fear the evil one,
For You are with me, and Your rod and staff
Are the comfort I need to know.

And I will trust in You alone
And I will trust in You alone,
For Your endless mercy follows me
Your goodness will lead me home.

Warm and gentle thoughts to all who feel anxious and low in spirit just now.

After a week of wet and windy weather, here in Yorkshire today it is dry and bright!

There is magic all around us, you can feel it in the air,
For the lovely signs of Autumn are unfolding everywhere.
It's a time for Seasons promise, it's a time of hope and cheer.
A joyful time of wonder, now that Autumn's here.

Hoping everyone will see the beauty in Autumn and feel a little better today.
