Hayley take your pick between Dolly Parton or Merle Haggard
( depending on how deep your voice is lol) :-)

Or Johny Cash and June Carter

Hayley, it takes a lot of time (pun intended) and dedication to teach cuckoos to tell the time, which is why they are so important for the swiss economy: not to mention the money expended in fittting them all with miniature wrist watches, or in this case ankle watches, so that they know when to make the correct appearance.

A cuckoo time trainer is a very important person in Switzerland.

A person who is just cuckoo, however, has to find a suitable village :-D

Nice Ann :-D

I think that with my love of all things 'Tolkien' I shall opt for 'Trollum' :-D

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 19 Nov 2012 22:36

and most villages already have a resident idiot

Allan

Allan Report 19 Nov 2012 22:40

Yes, but they sometimes need a new one to prevent in-breeding :-0

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 19 Nov 2012 22:51

Too bloody late to stop in breeding in some villages :-D :-D

JustJohn Report 19 Nov 2012 22:54

Allan :-D :-D :-D

Brilliant. And so true :-D That is exactly what happens. And probably it is what has kept us all involved and amused for nearly 10 years. Well, 4 months for me :-D

I just wish we could avoid some of the nastiness that can creep through. I know we have off days, but :-( :-( :-(

supercrutch Report 19 Nov 2012 23:07

I know someone who would make a lovely 'cuckoo in the nest' but you have to remember he's not just for Christmas ;-)

Allan

Allan Report 19 Nov 2012 23:08

You have to catch them when they are really young Hayley and then nest them in front of a clock so that they can get used to the 'tic-toc' rhythm.....which begs the question "which came first, the cuckoo or the clock?" :-D

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 19 Nov 2012 23:11

Allan I reckon you have "cut and pasted" from Fifty Shades of Grey" :-D

Allan

Allan Report 19 Nov 2012 23:13

Gives new meaning to the phrase " having a whip round at the office" :-D

:-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S

How young ? can then tell the time on a digital clock ? Do they know when the clocks go back, like the clock in your cooker does? :-S

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 19 Nov 2012 23:20

you don't cut and paste like some others do you Allan - you're all original aincha!!!

Allan

Allan Report 19 Nov 2012 23:22

Very young Hayley, in fact if you can get them when the mother cuckoo has kicked the other bird out of its nest so much the better. there is some scientific eveidence to show that once their eyes open, they can recognise digital figures.

however, some other studies have pointed out that as cuckoos do not possess digits as such, this may not be the case.

As for the time changes, cuckoos are very intelligent. They wait until the hear someone say "didnt you adjust that bl**dy clock last night? You know that it should have gone forwards/backwards (insert correct choice) by an hour The cuckoo then adjusts accordingly

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 19 Nov 2012 23:31

They sound like very intelligent baby birds but........................................

Do you supply face masks or balaclavas?

THEY ARE BLOODY UGLY!!!

Allan

Allan Report 19 Nov 2012 23:38

Only a mother could love them Sue :-D

Ann, my earlier post re holmes and Watsoe was a cut and paste from one of my own creations which has appeared on these boards as a serial type of story, but which I have now consolidated into one long one.

So yes, I do cut and paste, but only from my own work!

But, yes all my work is original, although my themes may be based on something that someone says. It sets my mind off in all directions ;-)

AnnCardiff Report 20 Nov 2012 00:13

you make a good replacement for Eldrick who used to keep us amused with his stories :-D :-D

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 20 Nov 2012 00:17

I think you are so funny Allan :-D

And last night, with George, was something I would normally pay for. :-D

Allan

Allan Report 20 Nov 2012 00:21

lol Ann. I could never replace Eldrick. he was a 'one off' I would have cheerfully sat at his feet to be taught by a true Master. :-D

John, sometimes you meet people on the same wave-length as yourself, and it just flows!
