Hayley, it takes a lot of time (pun intended) and dedication to teach cuckoos to tell the time, which is why they are so important for the swiss economy: not to mention the money expended in fittting them all with miniature wrist watches, or in this case ankle watches, so that they know when to make the correct appearance.

A cuckoo time trainer is a very important person in Switzerland.

A person who is just cuckoo, however, has to find a suitable village :-D

I know someone who would make a lovely 'cuckoo in the nest' but you have to remember he's not just for Christmas ;-)

You have to catch them when they are really young Hayley and then nest them in front of a clock so that they can get used to the 'tic-toc' rhythm.....which begs the question "which came first, the cuckoo or the clock?" :-D

How young ? can then tell the time on a digital clock ? Do they know when the clocks go back, like the clock in your cooker does? :-S

Very young Hayley, in fact if you can get them when the mother cuckoo has kicked the other bird out of its nest so much the better. there is some scientific eveidence to show that once their eyes open, they can recognise digital figures.

however, some other studies have pointed out that as cuckoos do not possess digits as such, this may not be the case.

As for the time changes, cuckoos are very intelligent. They wait until the hear someone say "didnt you adjust that bl**dy clock last night? You know that it should have gone forwards/backwards (insert correct choice) by an hour The cuckoo then adjusts accordingly

They sound like very intelligent baby birds but........................................
