Site seems to be dying on its feet. As you say, silly rr's spoil threads. Some groups think they own chat, and discourage opinions different to theirs.

Have just looked at the Suggestions Board. No post at all on Friday or Saturday. So hardly surprising not much traffic on Chat either and a frequent question now is "have I killed this thread?"

Yes Suzanne I am reluctant to post when I know a certain person will have some remark to make to try and make himself look clever .

I doubt if I will ever give up my membership. I love chatting to people all over the world, (well UK, Canada, Australia and possibly one or two other places), and reading their chatter. Being at home on my own, apart from the cat who spends most of her time sleeping the boards are my lifeline to sanity - or insanity perhaps.

I doubt if I will ever give up mine either Huia. I still find people I like to chat to. Still enjoy many of the threads, like the 'debates'. I find that if somebody irritates me, I can ignore them, I don't let it spoil my enjoyement.
I do though find the constant knocking of the board, the 'not like it used to be' posts annoying. It is us that make the boards, us that write the posts, us that irritate other people etc etc so it is us that can make the boards as we want them to be.

How old do your friends have to be Suzanne? :-D


You and I have chatted a bit so dont if I am classed as one of your old friends, but have often shared a thread or 2 with you.

I dont give a toss who posts what or what they think of me and my friends on here, I can ignore them agreed with them or simply tell them I don't,I will have my say like it or lump it, this board is for everyone :-D

No the board's not what it was...no one has RRd me for ages, I haven't said the naughty word for years, I haven't been called names ( not to my face anyway lol) , no one has accused me of 'wanting to run GR'...No one has hacked my messages, or told me I am a bad mother, person, poster... even the few debates have not made me as bad tempered ( I may be getting more patient with idiots?) :-D

It is quieter, on all the boards, so it may be a general trend away from genealogy perhaps (less money for hobbies?)

As Ann says, it is the posters who make the boards, I hope there will be posters writing interesting, amusing or debateable topics long after 'we' are all gone lol, which will be next month in my case, (financial rather than disenchantment with the boards) which still have interest and friendship I think

I think that remark is abit rich. It is offensive and abusive to say that about people on these boards, and for one, am offended. It is also against the T & C, to offend and abuse people on here.

I do think that John was referring to himself there. John, I think you need to read what you have written before you press submit then you won't have the 'anti John' army jumping on you.

My fault for introducing the word 'idiots', I wasn't thinking of anyone who posts on the board nowadays lol ( though my own inability to 'tolerate fools gladly' has at times in the past made me mutter 'idiot' at the screen) ..it is not the worst term, it even sometimes holds an affectionate tone.
I am at times an 'idiot' myself...as yesterday when I returned from the post office still carrying the letters I went to post :-S

I dont think John is an idiot far from it, I think he is an attention seeking lonely man who likes to turn every thread around to be about him, as he is doing with this one, I dont find him interesting or offensive, even when he sulks and starts whinning on about the perfect 10 which normally indicates he has at some point during the day been put soundly in his place. :-D

Sheessh!!!!!!!! I was referring to MYSELF as an idiot. I do not mind poking fun at myself and I do enjoy teasing as well. :-D As many of you do from time to time.

And I do chuckle at your reactions sometimes. There are bound to be other idiots as well as me in an 8 million Genes population. Why do you assume I am referring to you personally and not another of the 7,999,999? I think you may just be trying to seek attention. ;-)
