I have a very painful back problem at the moment and have been taking strong painkillers. Trouble is, they have an distressing side effect - won't go into detail, but some of you may know what I mean and empathise. |

My OH has a back problem and if it plays up he has to have painkillers with codeine in. This causes this problem, he was told to take Senokot. |

Sugar free sweets and dried apricots are what I make the old man have when he thinks he ought to have laxatives. |

Allbran and figs :-D A tip I was given ages ago is....sit on the loo, raise your knees as high as you can while keeping your balance...oh yes and play some soothing music....and then you blow gently as if you are blowing up a baloon. Never fails :-D :-D :-D <3 |

I think it's the sorbitol in sugar-free sweets that has the effect, also in sugar-free jellies I think - my auntie used to get them for her diabetic OH and always complained that they 'griped' her... :-S |

Before being let loose on my poor old dad I practicrd on the poor old dad of a friend. He had short-term memory problems and the obligatory obsession with his bum. |
