I stopped posting on 'suggestions' for similar reasons :-(

When I read some curt replies, in particular to new people, I can't help but wonder why anyone would come back to the boards.

...sometime I wish that posters could be given a 'star' for an interesting subject or how they put their point across. Equally I wish there was a black mark for some posts I would prefer not to read because of their content or hostile comments

One who answered me the other week put forward a valid point without aggression or being patronising and got her point across really well. Whilst I didn't fully agree with her point of view I felt that her reply was courteous, explained her take on the subject, and written in a way that made me consider a different view point .

Thank goodness the majority of posters answer in a fair way together with a bit of 'lol' banter-jl

Janet, I haven't seen curt replies to new members on this, the 'general' chat, board.
New posters get 'welcome to the boards' posts.
There was a one off 'troll' who posted a rude comment a couple of days ago but on the whole new members are welcomed and any look ups etc receive helpful responses - on 'general' chat.

Island, no I didn't mean this general board but replies I have read over time where some unsuspecting person asked a question perhaps on the wrong boards and got shot down. Like you and many more I always try to remember to welcome a new person, in the same way as a few welcomed me in the beginning. -jl
