Ann I was lucky enough to go into the stadium to see the rehearsals for the opening ceremony, I thought the triangle lights above the stadium looked stunning, and the whole stadium was fantastic, as was the rest of the park. Greenwich, where the horses and riders were, looked wonderful. I listened to lots of radio about the different venues, and everyone of the sites got great reviews. I hope to get to see more venues myself.

I got an email from Boris today, thanking me and other Ambassadors for our hard work :-D

The whole thing was wonderful, from the beginning to the end, The training started last year for the work we did. It was really well organised too :-D

Jane Report 13 Aug 2012 18:13

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. The Who and Annie Lennox (great)
I think we as a nation should be damn proud of all the organizers, volunteers etc for making both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies a great success.Obviously not all of it was everyone's cup of tea,but all in all a Total Success.Big Pat on the back for GB
We always put ourselves down ,and have a gripe and moan .But I think we have come up trumps this year :-D :-D .The Jubilee and the Olympics.

I've recorded it and have seen the majority but can someone tell me - was Paul McCartney performing? I use the word in it's loosest sense you understand :-D

At one stage the cpmmentator said something about passing from monochrome to a world of colour (or something like that) We assumed that the newspapers represented black and white, movies, TV etc.

The roadsweeper was symbolic sweeping away the 2012 games ready for Rio.

Do you realise, by the time we all explain the bits we understood we''ll get it all :-D

Merlin I did manage to read some of the 'newspapers' as the camera's panned...seems they were mainly quotes from poets and literary giants, one I did especially note was

"when a man is tired of London he is tired of life" Samuel Johnson, very apt :-D

edited! lol didn't notice I had put an 'm' at the end of London :-|

I suppose it was inevitable that we'd all like different bits, we didn't like The Who at all, then didn't care for them a lot first time round. I was impressed that Gary Barlow put aside his own sadness to fulfil his commitment. Thought the Spice girls were not bad and it was different having them perform on taxi's.

I did see that they had such a short time to pull the show together that they were still rehearsing right up until it started. Loved Imagine and we actually thought Jessie J was OK with Queen.

Eric Idle certainly got the crowd going but then the impetus seemed to be lost a bit. But we thought it was a tremendous show and we too felt sad when the flame went out. Thought the Rio intro was a bit long and, according to our TV paper they ran over half an hour altogether.

It was fun, it was eccentric and it was very British.

Maybe Harry had been celebrating a little too well and was hung over. I assume William was on duty, I don't think he would have expected special privileges to be allowed to go. Princess Anne was there.

Actually Prince Harry was actually christened Henry Charles Albert David Windsor.

But Charles and Diana said he'd be known as Harry.

I wonder if Prince Harry was as puzzled as I was when he was introduced as Prince Henry of Wales and this was also in sub titles at bottom of screen.

He was christened Harry.
