CC, I didn't really think you had a jacuzzi - or spa pool as we call them. My OH fancies one, but you don't always get you want - or so Mick J said...
How pleasing you are back to rights at the Towers Petunia, I am sure the little Nuns have no idea of your goodworks they are about to receive :-D. may they be truly thankful - a test for their mettle me thinks ;-).
Tonight our Valerie gets her long lost Gold medal presented to her , with much fanfare , hooray for her... Shame she missed out on the podium top spot at the Games. I do hope the medal has been cleaned and polished, ready to go around the neck of it's rightful winner..
I did read this morning, the French courts have ordered the scabby news rag, to relinquish all images of Kate, tout suite !!. And so they should. We are to get Charlie and his lady wife here in November...
Time to go and make our lunches. We have a lovely baguette today, cheese and pickle me thinks. Roll on lunch time.
Toodle pip.

Good evening dear Ladies.
Dear Upsidedown Susan, I do hope you enjoyed your baguette dear. I hope you ate it end to end, and not sideways. Did you fill it full of lovely things dear. I do so like proper ham, cut from the bone. Not that packaged stuff, pumped full of water. Topped with a slice or two of tomato. Lovely.
Ah yes, the pictures of our Kate. I do pity the poor gel. If she wants to sunbathe with her husband, then let her. What business is it of anyone else. The sisterhood has been let down very badly.
Now Lesley, I am sure you will look stunning in your new outfit. Make sure you hold your head high, and people will be dazzled by your panache. Do not pass on any misgivings to anyone, if you draw attention to yourself, people think it is an excuse to agree with you. Smile and glide gracefully around. I do it all the time.
Now..................back to ME!!!!!!
I did indeed visit St Hilda's this morning. What a dear little church it is. Not in the traditional way, but in a modern pine sort of way. All modern stained glass, and posters on the walls. However, the nuns were really taken with my idea of the rosaries, and they will give them out bi-monthly. They have also asked me to present them in Lavinia's name. I told them I am not of their faith, but they suggested I turn up just to give away the rosary. So I am pleased that they agreed to keep Lavinia's memory alive. They are also going to dedicate a Memory Candle to her, which will always be lit. How fitting a tribute. I am truly touched.
I am a little emotional of this dears, so will make this do for tonight. Also I think the activities of the cruise are catching up on me. An early night I think.
I just need to rag roll my hair, cream my face, have a bath, a pedicure, a manicure and a little tittivating here and there. I should be in bed by 10pm.
Night night all Auntie Petunia

Truly touched, oops, I read 'torched' :-D...
Ah the baguette, on reflection, I think perhaps they are best eaten on the day of purchase perhaps?. I did think I may need some new teeth after my own struggled to bite through the bread :-S. Still, it filled a hole ;-).
I have pounded the pavements again this morning, my little walk was most enjoyable. Quite surprising how many others are out at an early hour doing the same... I am always a little nervous of unknown dogs... There are a couple of houses I pass, where the sound of the barking is a little unnerving...
Tis only Thursday morning here, I was quite hoping it was Friday :-(, this seems a very long week indeed. I know we shouldn't wish our days away, but, roll on Friday..
I have a leeeetle secret that I am wanting to share but presently can't. As soon as I can I will :-).. No, I haven't won Lotto :-(.
Lesley, can you not swap your shoes for sandals? Will it be the wrong season to wear sandals to your friends wedding?, Well done getting an outfit, spill the beans, colour, style etc etc? You will have to put a new pic of the babby up. Glad you had lots of cuddles.
~~~~ to CC and Teresa.
Toodle pip, I am orf to find something to put between our bread slices - the cupboard is a tad bare :-(.
Good morning Dears,
Lesley your dress looks wonderful. Right the right amount of flesh showing. And a lace jacket is always alluring. Just a snatch of skin, without showing too much. I can see you have taste, dear. Lovely. Sandals will be quite ok, if you have no trailing through wet grass, etc. Go for it. I give it my seal of approval.
Dear Upsidedown Susan, tis Thursday here too! I belive Mrs Berry buys our baguettes frozen from W@itr@se, and bakes them herself. The smell is gorgeous and the taste divine. They use french flour, and it gives them an authentic taste. One does like to eat them with the butter dribbling down ones chin.
Off to do good works. Look after yourselfs dears...............no one else will!
good morning everybody :-) As ever, the sun is shining on the righteous - ME.
*
I was not a happy bunny yesterday morning. I was sorting some laundry and dropped a teatowel, so leaned forward to pick it up .... and overbalanced and ended up on the floor. Shaken, a bit stirred, but fortunately my new hip was not damaged although I cannot say the same for the rest of me. I now have a bruise on my chest where I landed on the clothes airer before bouncing off again. Luckily for me, MFH was at home. Normally he'd have left for work long before but he had a doctors appointment, so he came to my rescue. He couldnt pick me up because I cannot be picked up (too many painful pressure points) so he got a dining chair and I hauled myself off the floor by holding onto the seat of the chair taking all the strain on my arms while keeping my left leg straight behind me. I was ordered this morning not to attempt any more somersaults.
*
Wasnt sure Susan if you twigged I was joking about the jacuzzi, am pleased you "got it". My dau and her OH went on a very isolated holiday in Cornwall once where the amenities were rather primitive, and the shower was outside the cottage, and there was a jacuzzi. But, they were miles from anywhere. They had to walk two miles to the cottage, from the key collection point, as there wasnt even a road. Perhaps the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge should consider this holiday location, where there was nothing but miles of scrubland, and oodles of ocean. And the rabbits of course. I see that Italy and Sweden are following French Closer's scabby example. No doubt more court cases and injunctions will follow, methinks. The paparazzi was nothing more than a Peeping Tom and if that happened to me I would be mortified. What I would like to know is - since this was a private holiday, who spilled the beans that the newlyweds would be there.
If you encounter an unknown dog, just stand your ground, hold your arm out with finger pointing at said canine, and holler firmly "get inside". The dog will turn around and slink away with tail between legs. Never let a dog know you are nervous of it, or you will lose the battle.
*
hello Lesley, I am glad you got your outfit for your friends wedding. Why not start a new trend and go barefoot? Saves on pinched toes!! Have you got a hat? if not, Petunia might lend you one.
And what a beautiful dress it is too. Can I borrow it please, when you are done with it? I only have to lose about four stone ...... !! :-D
*
Oh darn I have missed Petunia, who had left Motie Towers before I came down from my room. Perhaps its just as well, as I am not in her good books at the moment. I think she took umbrage at the fact that I ordered a Trombone from the river company which arrived via courier yesterday, complete with music book, and I practised until about 2 am because I couldnt sleep. In my innocence, I didnt realise it would prevent others from sleeping as well. I must say that my night time foraging has been curtailed, now that I keep a jar of manuka honey in the wall safe, and have a spoonful of the honey at bedtime. I no longer wake up at 3 am feeling ravenous.
I wonder what good works Petunia will be performing this morning, perhaps she is re-organising Royal Mail so they refrain from losing packages addressed to me.
Good early evening dear Ladies.
I have been drumming up funds for the Ladies of the Innocent Comment Brigade. I organised a luncheon at the top of the Shard, and it was very nice indeed.
It has been very much in the news now that Andy Pandy did his bit by shimmying down it, and the dining area can be hired for a very reasonable price.
So, what may you ask is the Innocent Comment Brigade? Well. It is generally a ladies only organisations. It is when a lady of well breeding {like out goodselves} says something in all innocence and it is taken totally out of context and ends up in an almight row. I myself have been a victim of these circumstances.
For example. Daughter asks Mamma 'Does this skirt look alright?' Mamma answers 'are you modelling lampshades dear?' Daughter goes into a sulk, slams out of the door, and poor Mamma is left in tatters and tears. This is just a general example dears, but I am sure you get the gist. Some rows with the gentleman walker lead to divorce, so this is what the fund is set up for.
I shall not be asking for examples of your own Innocent Comments dears, but I am sure somewhere in the back of your minds, you can recollect one................or two.
Mrs Berry is now cooking something delicious by the aroma wafting from the kitchen.
Cherrrryyyyyy! Come down to dinner dear. No of course I am not annoyed with you, you did a sterling job while I was away.
Did I hear what dear? No I did not hear a thing. I sleep the sleep of the just, plus of course, I now have two pebbles in my ears...............
Good evening dears Auntie Petunia
CC, sorry to hear of your fall... Hope you aren't too sore still. Do you have any arnica? Arnica dear, not arsenic :-D. There is a subtle difference I believe...
Petunia, your good works are quite something. You are an example to us all indeed. One thing, I presume you were inside the Shard? :-D.
I hear Prince Charlie and his good lady are to celebrate Charles's birthday here in November. 64 kiwis who share the same birthday are to be invited to share in a kiwiana themed birthday party at Government House. That should be interesting.. Our Governor General also shares the day with Charles. Lamb, Pavlova , who knows what else will be on the me and you..
The sun is shining this morning and is forecast to stay around for a few days :-). There is still a cold nip in the air though. I could do with the Genie ?
Very sad news here, an American couple here on honeymoon, married only four days, have had a car accident, the husband is deceased and the wife very ill. So sad for their families...
Hope you all have a pleasant weekend, better get on with my day.
good evening dear Petunia, how nice the table looks this evening, set to perfection, the knives and forks and cruet set all measured out nicely; and those sweet little flowers are the icing on the cake are they not? metaphorically speaking of course.
Am I late? only I thought your three friends were joining us for dinner, or did they go home whilst I was having my siesta? Well I have been sharpening my teeth, as well as my appetite, in readiness for another of Mrs Berry's moveable feasts.
I am a Dame of the Ladies of the Innocent Comment Brigade. I once asked a lady when the baby was due. In my innocence, I did not realise the lady was merely overweight and "out in front" and that the maternity smock she was wearing was not a maternity smock but an ensemble from Rent A Tent.
What a relief you did not hear me practising the trombone last night. Pebbles in your ears, dear? Dont people normally use ear plugs?
*whispers* wots this I hear about fake tenners and thrupenny bits?
*
hello Susan, I have both arnica cream and witchhazel but I think its too late to apply any treatment, as the bruising has appeared in full Technicolour. It will heal ..... eventually.
Are you baking a birthday cake for dear Charles? Do look after him and his wife as well, the dear lady. They look very happy together; and one must accept that the past belongs in the past.
Yes how sad about the young American couple. A very cruel halt to what should have been a happy life. We've had a spate of car accidents in the UK recently, largely due to someone's negligence, like the man driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic.
Ohhhhhhh .. sigh .. a few moments ago I was very hot, so off came my blouse. Now I am cold so on with the blouse.
I went into M&S to purchase one pair of ladies unmentionables in a certain shade of blue. However, there was an offer, three pairs for £10. Then walking to the till to pay the £10, some clothes leapt off the rails and into my shopping trolley, demanding that I pay for them. What could I do. Then I went into Sainsco where I saw a chiffon-y type blouse, and that too fell into my trolley. I wonder if the geni was behind it, or just the devil. Whatever .... that one pair of unmentionables became very expensive !! :-D
Oh dear CC I am so sorry to hear about your fall :-( I do hope your not to uncomfortable :-)
The dress shown is probably in the smallest size made, mine is probably the largest size :-| I also have all the necessary unmentionables to hold me in.............. in all the right places :-D I am wearing a hat which has a flower on that is very similar to those on the dress :-)
My poor little baby E has to go to hospital next Tuesday :-( she has only been putting on an ounce a week rather than the preferred three ounces, the health visitor says not to be concerned as E is alert, chatty, hydrated and overall lively :-S
Susan can you spill the beans yet on your secret ;-) ;-)
Auntie Petunia dear I would just love to have quick look around one of the apartments at the Shard :-) if my arm was twisted I could even be persuaded to stay a little longer..................a night or two would be acceptable :-D
hello Lesley, if the health visitor says not to be concerned about the baby's weight gain (or lack of it), then dont worry. easier said than done I know. But its probably just an indication that Baby E will grow into a slender and svelte young lady with an excellent metabolism.
Thanks for your concern about the fall I had; no, I'm not too uncomfortable, and just grateful that my new hip didnt dislocate.
now now, if Susan spills the beans then it wont be a secret.
Good evening dear Ladies.
Dont worry about babby Lesley, if she is a bright little thing, then there cannot be much wrong with her. Babbies will eat when they are good and ready, as we all know.
Dear Upsidedown Susan, Charlie and his missus coming to visit you. Will you be out waving your flag? Wills and Kate seem to have made a good impression on their tour, I wonder if parents will do the same? You will let us know your secret when the time is right. So exciting, I do so love secrets.
Cherry dear. I am sorry dear, how are you. Have you seen the big roll of cotton wool in your room. Please do wrap yourself in it. I dont want you hurting yourself. I too bruise like a peach, it is not funny. Please feel free to order Pat-trish-aaaah around as you please. And also give Mrs Berry instructions on what you want to eat. We will have to feed you up if you are poorly. We cannot have you wasting away.
I have been distributing more of the trinklets today. I unfortunately had to go to St Jumbos this morning. Father Thadius was very grateful for the bolts of silk, he will have a new altar cover made. He liked the Regal Purple, and said that the Scarlet will be made into hymn book covers. So all is well.
I did not stay too long, and was walking back along the corridor when I heard someone humming Nellie The Elephant...................................I ran.
Good night dears Auntie Petunia
oh how very kind of you Petunia dear. I wondered what it was in my room that took up so much space. I wandered in without switching on the overhead light, to save on the electricity bill, intending to just turn on the bedside lamp, and promptly tripped over a huge soft thing that was in the middle of the floor but wasnt there this morning.
On picking myself up and dusting myself down, I turned on the lamp and found the big roll of cotton wool. Having acquired a few more new bruises in the process, I am delighted with my little .. or not so little .. surprise, and am wrapping myself up in cotton wool, as I speak, in case I sustain further injury while laying in bed.
*looks at width of hips in mirror doors* Fear not Petunia dear, there is no risk of me wasting away.
How strange that you should mention Father Thadius and St Jumbos. Before night fell, I nipped outside to check the driveway for any new potholes, and I could have sworn I saw a man down by the gate, looking at Motie Towers. His trousers pockets were hanging out like elephants ears ........
OH PAT RISH AAAAH .......... do please bring me a mug of warmed milk, with a teaspoon of best brandy in it, and a plate of arrowroot biscuits dear, there's a good girl. What ?? What did you say to me ??? Do I have to speak to your grandmother ?????????
#chugging through the streets of London Town#
Tis Open House Day in the good City today. All those posh places that the hoi poily are not normally allowed into, have been opened to the public.
As you know dears, not many doors are barred to me, because of my position in life and the social scene, but there are a few places that I have not been into.
I have been allowed into the placed where strange pale men, who probably never see the light of day, have themselves funny hand shakes. What a wonderful building it is. All marble and sweeping staircases. Obviously we cannot go into all the rooms. But my, my, to be a member of this Club, you must be in the know.
Pat-trish-aaaah is driving the tuk-tuk, and we are visiting as many Open Houses as we can. We have left dear Cherry at home, we do not want her bones rattled along on this thing, she is in the wars enought as it is.
Off now to the headquarters of a famous Petrol Company which is all Art Deco. So much more tasteful than some of the more contemporary building. Then off to tea at the Savoy. I wonder if we can park the bike outside. Never mind, I daresay if I tip the fellow a florin he will shove it in a corner for us.
Good upside morning one and all,
The sun is high in the sky, the birds are singing away merrily, the puppy has been and eaten the food I threw out for the birds :-S, all is right in my little world..
I can now let out my leeetle secret. I am to be a MOB :-D. Yes ladies, my fruit is engaged, we are very pleased and happy for the young lovebirds. They are wanting to be married next year, in fact not too many months away. One of the maids is to depart our fair shores, so , there is no time to be lost - apparently..
I, shall not, I repeat, not, be wearing a hat :-P. It is not traditional here for a MOB to wear a hat, even if it was, I wouldn't.. hat hair on a wedding day, not on your life. I shall have to step up the exercise routine so I am able to find a lovely outfit to wear.. Oooh , the pressure already. :-).
Petunia, I hope you enjoyed your day out. I remember seeing the building you speak of. So many wonderful buildings to see.
I have just finished a lovely bacon and egg breakfast. I need energy for all the outdoor chores that await me today. If I can keep my mind on anything but 'weddings' ;-).
Toodle pip for now,
Susan
