Fifty Shades darker and Fifty Shades freed - I shall try and find a home for mine cos I ain't finishing them

***FAINTS AGAIN*** ;-) ;-)

Right just finished it...I'm known to read books very quickly given the chance lol.

In places I found it very Mills and Boon ish...which isn't really to my taste. The naughty bits didn't shock me one bit....nothing I haven't heard about before.......I quite liked the story of this very damaged man and have just ordered book two to find out more of what caused him to be as he is.

All the way through I questioned whether I'd have given in to him or not ...and decided it would probably depend on how young I was....I certainly found her reactions to his controlling behaviour interesting.

Her inner goddess battled with her common sense where he was concerned basically. If one of my daughters had met him I'd want her to run for the hills......but me? At points in my life I'd have probably relished the challenge I think....fool that I was LOL. (not that the opportunity ever did arise.............)

Bit flowery in places and I'm not a great one for romantic fiction...but I enjoyed it for what it was...a bit of a laugh re the naughty bits and an interesting look at a dark soul once you shook off the schmaltz x

I am just over half way through it and boy it's a struggle :-(

Apart from the obvious overuse of the 'inner goddess' the narrative style is driving me potty :-P

To date I have found it neither dark nor erotic, slightly intriguing but not enough to make it a 'page turner'.

TBH if I ever met a character such as the main female one I'd probably flatten her :-D

Interesting to see the different comments. Still not sure if I would bother to read it on balance. Not because I would be shocked, I have read some pretty lurid books in my time, but because it sounds as if I would be bored. :-)

for me it was just not believable but as Ann says, very interesting to see what others thought of it

Have to say I haven't read a book like this in a long time .I think I will like it.
I don't mean that in the ' ;-) ;-)sense ....but hey it could spice up things :-D :-D ;-) ;-) I will be looking at the psychological side of things .Honestly I will :-D

Ok I have finished the book.

Give 10 people the same book and you'll get 10 differing opinions and this is just mine.

In addition to what I said at the half way stage, there is absolutely nothing in the novel that would blow 'disgusted from Hampstead's' wig off. It's mundane to be honest.

I have no empathy with the principle female and that is singularly due to the repetitive drivel the reader is subjected to as the explanation to her vague mutterings. Once you have read a couple of the 'thoughts' you can write the rest of them yourself.

As a female reader I admit that I am more drawn to the male character but only out of interest to discover what makes him tick.

She seems to have a fixation on the way his clothes hang from his hips and there is no limit to the numbers of times this is commented on. I had reached my limit very early on!

I found it paled into insigficance compared to 'The Blood that Bonds', that is dark, realistic and erotic in a stark but not 'in your face' way.

This book doesn't tax the brain and it can be read (if you have stickability) in a couple of days whilst living a life and taking time out to watch the Canadian Grand Prix!

Happily now it's archived I can return to the last part of the Demontide trilogy.

If you choose to read it, enjoy and ignore me cos I am just a grumpy old bag

Well I am just over half way through the book and to be honest I am a tad bitterly disppointed, but as I am now questioning and adding my own suggestions, for this reason I know I will have to finish the book. I was really sold the book by one of my sisters she claims its pure master piece and well worth the read, also by one of my woerk colleagues.

Reading the first "encounter" made me blush, the rest seem to blend in to one. Now I do like a good story so I am not just reading it for the naughty bits. But I have to agree Mills and Boon do spring to mind. But I do find myself asking at her age and knowing what I knew, would I have been tempted to some degree?

The big question is at this moment I am asking myself is .....WHY HAVENT I GOT AN INNERGODESS AND DO I WANT ONE? :-D

Haley ,I still haven't started it.Am tempted ,but just have to finish the book I'm reading at the moment.
I was looking in the cupboard under the stairs today for something and came across an old riding crop ;-) ;-)

The more I read Jane the more I shake my head and say " Its not for me" its the whole control thing its not just in that department its all other aspects of her life as well.... :-D

My problem was always that my inner goddess and my subconscious both had the same agenda when I was younger..

Sadly once I started to get my head together inner goddess got bored and bu**ered off ...now i'm left with my sub conscious...and she's improved with age lol x

Finished Book 1 over the weekend and to be honest I have to agree with Muffy its Mills and Boons with a riding crop, having started book 2 I find myself skimming over the rude bits because they are repetitive , book 2 does have a litttle more of a story to it however for now I will stick with it .

its flying of the book shelves, im not guna read it tho
