11 yr old drops their half decent mobile down the loo.....complete accident....it may be ruined ..it may not.........however if it's ruined the options given are......

a) pay half towards a new one

b) use the family spare

c) get given a brand spanking new one.

Muffyxx Report 28 Feb 2012 21:46

They are not the options given to the child. btw..they're the options available to deal with the situation.

I favour a and have been called allsorts cos I think she needs to learn the value of money accident or not .x

Is it insured ? either separately or on house Insurance.
Son was on hols with his friend's family in Spain and jumped in the the pool with his phone in his pocket !
I claimed on the house insurance for it, but it wasn't covered by water damage, had he lost it or had it stolen it would have been.. so beware ;-) if you make a claim to check the small print.

Firstly, try drying it out with a hair dryer, fingers crossed, if that fails.

Hmmmm it could be I suppose...but is it worth the price of losing the no claims bonus and higher premiums........?

I too would favour a) because accident or not she should have been aware that there was a chance it could happen. Err I hope it was either before she used said loo or after she flushed it!!! Try drying it out though, OH repairs some phones and some dry out easily (You would be surprised how many get dropped in water, cups of tea etc.

If you did that what would you do? Buy a new one if needed and pay the costs. So....maybe the same for your 11 y.o. The a) option sounds good.

Try drying it as said , I tried with son's but it had been dunked a week before and didn't survive ! You may be lucky if done soon enough.

Edit.. Just read your post re airing cupboard and hair dryer.
