It is like everything else isn't it? Unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world and are left fighting for everything.

In an ideal world but with goverment cut backs

I know children that have been flagged up in early years and foundatuon years but nothing has been done due to lack of funding depends on school and area too ;-)

For any of you whose children may be having difficulties with reading, perhaps you might be interested in Irlen syndrome too.
Children suffer some of the difficulties mentioned by Hayley and text can 'jump', 'swirl' or fade on the page for example making reading very difficult.
Try a Google search for images and you will see the problem.

I often wish that children were routinely screened for this at a suitable age in primary school so that difficulties can be detected and help given.

Anything which helps or prevents later difficulties must surely be money well spent.

I don't know Bracken, as it is a petitioned organised by another organisation. It is one of those where if they can get more than so many names the subject will be debated in parliament.
